New legislation for electric vehicle (EV) charging points sold in Great Britain for private (domestic or workplace) use will be introduced by the UK government in June 2022.

As the UK transitions from fossil fuel vehicles to electric vehicles there are concerns the grid will face a sudden surge in demand as users schedule their EV charging to take advantage of cheaper overnight electricity rates.

By introducing a randomised charge starting time up to 10 minutes after the scheduled charging time this surge in power demand will be reduced.
