Morning to all,
A quick post, to reply to the key board warriors, and lovely people we`ve had phone up, to complain about the price of our fuel.
Firstly we didnt start a war in the middle east, which is obviously going to spike the price.
The actual facts behind the increase are, that we ordered a load of fuel to be delivered on Wednesday, our suppliers wouldnt commit to a price per litre, due to the volatile nature of the market.
The load was delivered, and we still didnt have a price, we made numerous calls on Thursday, to get the price per litre, and eventaully got a price around dinner time.
We couldnt believe the price we were quoted, and spent a considerable amount of time, trying to point out the increase was ridiculous, and that we would struggle to sell the fuel at that price, as non of our competitors where near the price we would be forced to sell it at, but they wouldnt budge.
By this stage we had already been selling the fuel at less than we paid for it, so we had no option but to put the fuel up, to what it went up too, yesterday afternoon.
We are well aware of what other garages are selling the fuel at locally, and have access to the new online government fuel tracker.
With the evidence from that, allied the barage of abuse we have been getting today, we have gone back to our supplier again to complain.
Eventually they have agreed to a decrease in the price per litre which has allowed us to drop both the petrol and diesel by 4p per litre, which was implemented immediately that we had confirmation of this.
As a small village fuel station (most of which have already died out) we will never to be in a position to compete with the supermarkets and costco prices, we are also one of the last remaining attended services.
We try our hardest to remain competitive with our prices, and to provide a service for the local community.
The increase we were hit with this week also cost us thousands of pounds extra, so far from profiteering, we are taking the hit as well
The abuse that we have had this morning, we feel is completely unwarranted, and beyond our control, we will try our hardest to secure future deliveries, at a price, which will allow us to pass any decrease, back to the public, as soon as possible.
