Global Asbestos Awareness Week aims to educate the public about the dangers of asbestos exposure and promote safe handling practices to prevent asbestos-related diseases.

It's a crucial time for advocacy, awareness, and support for those affected by asbestos-related health issues.

👉 Asbestos stands as the biggest cause of work-related deaths in Great Britain, with around 5000 people dying each year from asbestos related diseases.

👉 Despite all types of asbestos being banned in the UK in 1999, there are fears that asbestos still remains present in an estimated 1.5 million buildings across the UK.

The landscape of the construction industry is ever-changing. Effective leadership and management within the industry is critical to project success.

CITB have invested £10.5 million to fill the Leadership & Management gap within Construction! This fantastic training provision comes on the back of feedback from the construction industry and numerous pieces of research that CITB conducted or reviewed which highlighted a lack of management and leadership skills within the construction industry.

We had a fantastic time on-site with Sir Robert McAlpine as part of Build UK's initiative, last week!

We went behind the hoardings at 3 Chamberlain Square, Birmingham - a sustainable and landmark 10 storey development providing 189,000 sq ft of vibrant office space 🏢

Alongside office space, 3 Chamberlain Square will also have 200 bike spaces, dedicated changing facilities and all-electric power and heating.

The development represents architectural innovation and is a pioneer in sustainability, with the development receiving The NABERS 5* Designed Reviewed Target Rating, alongside the award of BREEAM outstanding at the design stage.

Today marks the very first National Women in Science and Engineering Day! 🎉

Celebrating 40 years of empowerment, WISE has launched the inaugural National Women in Science and Engineering Day. The day is dedicated to honouring the achievements of women and allies in STEM, whilst it further shines a spotlight on the contributions of women and champions diversity within STEM disciplines.

Last year, The OM Group CEO, Damini Sharma was honoured with an award presented by Baroness Lucy Neville-Rolfe - Minister of State at the Cabinet Office, at the House of Lords!

The award acknowledged Damini Sharma's inclusion in the list of Inspirational Business Women in STEM & Construction!

Damini said:

"It's important to remember that we still have work to do. Current statistics indicate that only around 14% of the construction industry workforce in the UK are women. We need to continue our efforts to disrupt these trends, inspire future generations and push for greater diversity and representation".
