Sustainable design isn’t just about reducing energy use, it’s about creating homes that work beautifully with their surroundings.

This energy-efficient eco home was carefully designed for a sensitive infill site, balancing low-cost living with environmental responsibility. Working closely with Nature England and BBOWT, planning was secured with ecology at the heart of the project. Built using local tradesmen, reclaimed materials and even recycled timber from felled trees on site, the project reflects our commitment to thoughtful, sustainable architecture.

For clients dreaming of a new home, sustainable design is about more than energy performance; it’s about crafting spaces that feel connected to their environment, cost less to run, and stand the test of time.

Left unattended inside the architects’ office for a matter of seconds… and Mitzi identified an immediate vulnerability in the design, helping herself to a bite of a director’s pancake while nobody was looking…

Witnesses say she attempted a second inspection of the evidence but was intercepted before the full pancake disappeared.

Designing a new build opposite a church comes with a responsibility to respect its setting and architectural character.

Thoughtful, traditional design isn’t about replicating the past, it’s about creating buildings that complement their surroundings through appropriate scale, materials and detailing.

Sensitive development strengthens a sense of place, preserves local identity, and ensures new architecture contributes positively to the wider streetscape for generations to come.

Blending old and new isn’t about contrast for the sake of it. It’s about balance.

Too much preservation, and a building can feel frozen in time. Too much change, and you lose what made it special.

We specialise in making the most of every design opportunity to create spaces that truly make an impact.

A lovely surprise to mark the securing of planning approval on a recent project 🌿

We’re grateful to our client for this thoughtful gesture – it’s always rewarding to help guide a project through the planning process, and even more so when the collaboration is as positive as this one has been.

Given the complexities involved, this was no small achievement, and makes the approval all the more meaningful. A big thank you to everyone involved in reaching this milestone.

What if the space you need is above you? Below you? Between levels? Or hidden inside a layout that simply hasn’t been questioned yet?

We often assume the solution is a rear extension because it’s familiar. But the most interesting projects sometimes come from looking somewhere less obvious.

Rethinking space is about challenging assumptions and seeing possibilities differently.

We’re often asked: “Do we need more space?”

In some cases, the answer is no. What’s needed is better space. Better alignment between rooms. Better flow between functions.

April is when this becomes clearer — when homes are used more fully, and inefficiencies start to stand out.

Before extending, it’s always worth asking: Is the space working as well as it could?

A home should feel connected to the landscape around it — not separate from it.

At this time of year, trees and planting start to flourish, and gardens come back to life. In residential design, that relationship with the landscape matters. A well-designed home shouldn’t feel separate from its surroundings — greenery should be part of the everyday experience of living there.
