Beginning a new chapter with this old oak armoire. Solid, timeworn, full of quiet character, the kind of piece that holds its own story. I’ve chosen a paint colour that I think will breathe new life into it, without erasing what’s already there. It feels like a theme
Because at the same time, I’ve been helping challenge a plan to build over one of New Quay’s main car parks, a move that would wipe out 30% of the town’s total parking provision. In a coastal community that overflows with visitors each summer, this isn’t just poor planning; it’s a step towards losing what makes the place work.
I asked my mum, nearly 80, born and raised in New Quay how long the car park has been there. “Erioed,” she said. Forever.
Some things matter not because they are flashy or new, but because they have quietly supported everything else, for generations. You don’t build a better future by stripping away a town’s foundations - you destroy it.
If you could spare a moment to sign our petition and raise awareness we would be so appreciative 🙏
