Found this on a recent inspection. Consumer Unit was hanging off the wall. Once i refixed it to the wall on inspection of the lighting circuit i found the insulation had degraded to a unacceptable level, which deemed it unsafe to be used for any longer. Removed the cables from the Consumer Unit to make safe with a recommendation for the lights to be rewired at a later date. Every 10 years it is recommended to have your property have a electrical inspection to make sure it is safe for continued use. If it is a rented property it should be inspected every 5 years or every time a tenant moves out of the property.
