Last week we repaired 2 fence posts with concrete spurs and removed this tired out decking area and returned it to a usable gravelled space which won’t be dangerous and slippery under foot like the old wood was.

A frosty but bright start this morning.
Just a bit of tidying up debris fallen from trees and maintaining compost areas.

Try to stay off lawn areas as much as possible in frosts to prevent grass damage.

🌱 January Garden Jobs 🌱

January might feel quiet in the garden, but there’s still plenty that can be done to set things up for a great year ahead.

✔️ Clear fallen leaves from lawns, paths and drains
✔️ Stay off frosty or waterlogged lawns
✔️ Prune apple and pear trees, roses and dormant shrubs
✔️ Plant bare-root trees, hedges and roses (weather permitting)
✔️ Cut back dead perennials and tidy borders
✔️ Mulch beds with compost or well-rotted manure
✔️ Dig over veg beds and prepare soil for spring
✔️ Clean greenhouses, tools and pots
✔️ Protect tender plants from frost
✔️ Keep bird feeders topped up and water fresh

A scaffold board decking rebuild for one of our lovely customers.

We removed the old deck as it had rotted away and was now dangerous and replace it with new wood.

We managed to save the back wall and roof area as it was still rock solid but had to replace all the uprights, struts and top boards plus built a new set of steps.

There was a lot of bamboo growing under the deck and on the river bank which we had to remove then rebuild part of the bank to stop any collapsing from happening.
