WE’RE HIRING – EXPERIENCED PLASTERER / ROUGHCASTER

Briyár Limited are looking to expand our external refurbishment division and are currently recruiting for an experienced Plasterer / Roughcaster to join our growing team working across Central Scotland.

Rate of Pay:
✅ £180 per day
✅ Equivalent to £22.50 per hour
✅ Approx. £46,800 per year based on full-time employment

The Role Includes:
- Roughcasting & rendering
- External refurbishment works
- Patch repairs & maintenance
- Housing association and private sector works
- Working alongside experienced roofing & external works teams

Requirements:
- Experience in plastering & roughcasting essential
- Ability to work to a high standard
- Reliable and professional attitude
- CSCS preferred
- Driving licence preferred

We are proud to announce that Briyár Limited has been awarded the roofing and waterproofing works at Slateford Green, Edinburgh on behalf of Wheatley Homes East.

This project involves the renewal of the circular roof sections and associated waterproofing systems across one of Edinburgh’s most recognisable developments.

Securing projects of this scale is a reflection of the hard work being put in across every part of the business, from tendering and planning through to operations and delivery.

As a company we remain focused on sustainable growth, quality workmanship and building long term relationships through delivering projects safely, professionally and to the highest standard.

A huge thank you to Wheatley Homes East for the trust placed in our team and to everyone involved throughout the process.

Another strong week on site for Briyár Limited.

Projects continuing to move at pace across multiple locations with roughcasting, lintel replacements and roofing works all progressing as planned. The team has been fully focused on delivering quality work while keeping programmes tight and sites running efficiently.

Tower Drive is coming together well with roughcasting advancing and lintels scheduled, setting us up for the final stages including the roofing works. Several properties have now been completed and are ready for handover, with new sites also getting underway as scaffolds go up and works commence.

Consistency is everything in this game. Delivering on time, maintaining standards and making sure every job is properly managed from start to finish.

We’ve also secured a six figure contract award this week which we’ll be revealing very soon. Big step forward and a reflection of the work going on behind the scenes.

☀️ Sunshine is finally here — and it’s the perfect time to take a look at your roof and exterior!

Full upgrade completed on this flat roof taking it from an ageing built-up felt system to a high-performance EPDM rubber solution.

The existing roof had multiple signs of failure:
• Surface cracking and deterioration to the felt
• Previous patch repairs starting to fail
• Risk of water tracking through laps and joints
• General end-of-life condition

Rather than carry out further temporary repairs, we stripped the roof back to deck level to do the job properly.

Scope of works included:
• Full removal of existing built-up felt system
• Inspection of the deck and replacement of any defective areas
• Installation of new timber deck to provide a solid, uniform substrate
• Application of Elevate RubberCover bonding adhesive
• Installation of EPDM membrane laid in large sections to minimise joints
• All perimeter edges and upstands fully dressed and sealed
• Detailing around outlets and abutments to ensure full watertightness

We used the Elevate RubberCover system here, which is one of the most reliable EPDM systems on the market when installed correctly.

The finished result is a clean, seamless roof with no vulnerable lap joints across the field area a massive upgrade from traditional felt.

Why we push EPDM for these types of roofs:
• Expected lifespan of 20–30+ years
• Handles thermal movement without cracking
• No torch-on risks during installation
• Far less maintenance required over time
• Proper long-term solution, not a patch repair

A lot of flat roofs we attend have had money spent on them multiple times, but never properly upgraded. This is exactly where clients end up paying twice.
