We have just completed these additional solid ash kitchen units which were made to fit the space available and suit the clients needs.

The first unit is used as a display unit for ornaments and cook books and the second unit was made as a wine rack.
Design was made in collaboration with the client (who is an architect) and produced and spray finished in our workshop.

The wine rack features a compound angle as both the right side and top are at 22.5 degree.

These glazed doors made of solid European oak allow a smooth transition between the dining area and the living room as well as letting some extra light to filter through. Despite the square opening, the client's wish was to incorporate some curved elements to the door which was achieved by introducing curved astragals with radiuses.

Aldourie Castle (post 4)

This small building houses a water pump for the estate. We made this cute door with heart shape cut-out panels, cavetto moulding and bevels on the upper horizontal edges to drive the rain water away. This created a very interesting and unusual joint where the middle rail meets the door stiles.

Gluing a piece can be a stressful time in our line of work, mostly because of the time restraint we have with the glue we are using. There is the potential for things to go wrong resulting in the loss of hours of work. Experience teaches you how to anticipates potential issues and prepare as best as you can so you can approach this operation with serenity and not panic even when a bottom rail is giving you a hard time.

Door is 2234x989x54 and is assembled with traditional mortise and wedged though tenons.

Aldourie Castle (post 3)

The steading at Aldourie Castle Estate are so large that there are a total of 6 staircases in this building only. Below are pictures of the North range stair and the South range stairs. These stairs are made exclusively of European solid oak with painted risers and stringers whilst treads, newels and finials are oiled to keep a natural look.
