This photograph shows the very beginning of Dunhouse Quarry Ltd. Taken in the early days, it features 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 — pictured top right — standing alongside the quarry workers who laid the foundations of the business.
William purchased Dunhouse Quarry in Staindrop, County Durham, in 1926. What started as a small family operation has been passed down through three generations, with the fourth generation now working in the quarry today.
Over the past 100 years, the business has grown from one quarry into nine sites across the North of England and Scotland. Despite that growth, every project we deliver is still worked and completed at our original factory site at Dunhouse Quarry — the same place where Edward first began.
Today, we combine traditional stone masonry with modern CNC technology, but the principles remain unchanged: skill, pride, and respect for the craft and the people behind it.
This year marks 100 years of Dunhouse Quarry.
A family business built on stone, people, and hard work — and still going strong.
