In the last few weeks I have...

-The design agreed on three projects for house extensions.
-Obtained planning approval for a trellis to fence in Middleton St George.
-Submitted a planning application for an extension, internal and external works to a Grade II listed dwelling in Howden-le-Wear.
-Been working with VG Digital Solutions to upgrade my website.
-Booked in new consultations for potential projects.
-Met current clients to discuss design.
-Liaised with the planning department and building control.
-Spoken to builders to obtain fee estimates.

Weekly(ish) update…

-We’ve been out measuring in the rain, but what a beautiful view they have at this house even on a cloudy day- always makes me so envious!
-Site visits
-Ongoing discussions with the planning department on submitted projects
-New consultation on a kitchen extension in Newton Aycliffe
-Drawing up new schemes

-Contractor appointed for the work and a start date agreed
-Feasibility design complete for a bungalow in Newcastle
-Consultation complete and P A Designs instructed for new project
-Builders estimates obtained
-Site visits completed
-Informative discussions with Empty Homes Team, Durham
-CPD on Community Use of buildings, CIC's and Heritage grants

🏠I’m going to try to commit to a weekly update as I’m always so busy I don’t do a great job of keeping social media up to speed!

This week I’ve been at my desk designing extensions and refurbs, project managing, doing site visits, organising drainage surveys, the usual pile of admin, paperwork, CPD, juggling phone calls in and out and also getting a ‘larger home extension’ application submitted to the council for a semi on Mowden.

Earlier this week I dug out an old CV for some legal admin and it reminded me how quickly time flies! I started working as an Architectural Assistant back in 2003, qualified as an Architect in 2008 and founded P A Designs in 2011! Over 22 years of loving what I do. There’s of course been headaches, a lot of eye strain and some all-nighters at my desk along the way, but I get such satisfaction seeing my happy clients, it’s definitely all worth it 👩‍💻

This image is a flashback to one of the first jobs P A Designs had, which was to ensure the completion of The Hub- an award winning community building in Barnard Castle.

Out measuring in Darlington again today and it was nice to see some lead flashing detail. Often designed as Tudor rose motifs, these decorative lead pieces add character and traditional styling to roofing, such as on dormers, chimneys, or parapet walls. These 3D motifs are typically cast from lead, coated in patination oil for weather resistance, and usually feature a rear screw for easy, secure fixing.
