Victorian properties (typically built between 1837–1901) are full of character, but they were built very differently from modern homes.

Many have solid brick walls rather than cavity walls, which means they handle insulation and moisture differently. You’ll often find suspended timber floors, original joinery, and construction methods designed to allow the building to “breathe”.

That doesn’t make them problematic, just different.

Understanding how these homes were built helps buyers make informed decisions about maintenance, insulation upgrades, and future alterations.
