There are 3 main types of lighting:

💡Ambient Lighting

💡Task Lighting

💡 Accent Lighting

Ambient - This is your General light so your ceiling fixture with its job to illuminate the entity of a area or space.

Task - Task lighting is your specific lighting set in specific area where you may carry out “Tasks” such as chopping, cooking. Typically these will be your under cupboard lights.

Accent - This is the lighting you may chose to have to show off a specific area or create a focus as shown in the last pic with the blue light focusing on the roof window.
