Guys. Just a heads up and massive thanks to Garry Collins Locksmiths for coming out late in the day, despite us calling in the morning but still going with a ‘cheaper option’ 🤦🏻♀️ which turned out to be a rogue trader and not cheaper at all (was told £49 and upon arrival quoted almost £800) Garry charged a 3rd of that, as well as changing 3 locks!
I’m writing this embarrassed. I read Garry’s reviews and he sent me a prompt list of transparent costs, which I tried to price check against another company- what I didn’t realise was that this was a massive mine field, filled with rogue traders (for a bit of back story, we have just moved in and this house has had literally everything wrong with it, and has taken pretty much everything we have 😮💨)
So this is just a post to hopefully save someone some time, energy and money - and give a local heads up really.
Despite your situation, go with reputable, transparent, local firms. The firm / website had ‘sandwich’ in the title, which made me think they were local when they weren’t.
I can’t thank Garry enough for coming and swiftly (and honestly) addressing the situation and sorting the locks.
He has all the parts on his van too!(the other guy wanted to travel/charge for 2hrs to collect a part he didn’t have)
Please just be aware, and go with your instincts.
