Some uPVC mechanisms have been discontinued and you cannot simply replace it with a new one. If this is the case, we will always do what we can to repair your existing mechanism.

This Zenith/Bowater mech had jammed up and was not firing the locking points. The problem in this case was with the hook boxes and not the gearbox.

Here's how we repaired these hook boxes in 8 steps:

Step 1) Drill out the rivets on the casing.
Step 2) Give it a good spray of degreaser.
Step 4) Remove the middle wheel from the hook. It gets very tightly stuck on there, but we don't need it anymore.
Step 5) Clean the parts that we need to re-use.
Step 6) Spray the inside with white lithium grease
Step 7) Reassemble the hook box and screw into the new case with the screws provided.
Step 8) Attach them back onto the rail and stick the mechanism back in the door.

1) Never click on sponsored ads. You can even click to hide the sponsored results.
2) Check that the locksmith is asking you questions and trying to get a good idea of what scenario he is going to. If they don't seem to care, it's probably because they're not a locksmith.
3) If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. With specialised tools, stock, fuel and training, Locksmiths have many costs to cover. They cannot make a living charging £49 for whatever problem should arise.
4) Choose local and look for someone that has put their reputation on the line.

Although it can sometimes be difficult to diagnose every problem without testing the lock, I can usually give you a ball park figure. A late night lockout to a Royal Navy air display trailer. The keys were locked inside. Non destructively bumped open by Castle Locksmiths. A military discount was given and we got some cool free merch in return. Respect to the Black Cats helicopter display Team. Some people like to do back flips in helicopters 😱

A customer was stuck in her home in Deal today as her deadlock had failed. This one turned out to be a broken spring (the black part) not allowing the key to turn the curtain properly. We advised the customer not to use a deadlock on a flat door as it was her only means of escape in the event of a fire. We recommended only to use the euro Thumbturn lock that she already had in place. As these pass fire safety regulations in flats.
