Throwback Thursday ⏪

It has been over a year since the newly refurbished Ravenshead Leisure Centre opened it’s doors to the local community and we are thrilled to see the centre thriving!

Undertaken via the SCAPE Regional Construction framework for Ravenshead Parish Council, works comprised the refurbishment of the centre changing rooms and a new sprung Harlequin floor to the small hall to be used for dance activities. Extensive M&E upgrades, external window and door replacements, internal door replacements, fire protection improvements, plastering, decorating and flooring were also included.

During our recent Client feedback meeting , we received glowing feedback from Amanda Dilks, Clerk to the Council at Ravenshead Parish Council:

“We at the Leisure Centre and Parish Council have been very impressed with the level of professionalism, flexibility and the help and support that has been provided so far during this project, especially from Josh and his team. The help provided has had a big impact on the Leisure Centre and enabled us to stay open when we thought it wasn’t possible.”

Well done to everyone involved in such a fantastic community facility ⭐

Celebrating 20 years of SCAPE 🎉

In 2021, we completed the Theatre Royal Concert Hall façade at the heart of Nottingham’s Cultural quarter. Appointed by Nottingham City Council through the Scape Regional Construction Framework, our team undertook the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade II listed building.

After 40 years, the existing mosaic tiles and substrate forming the external façade had reached the end of their service life, resulting in water ingress, increasing maintenance costs and presenting a potential health and safety risk to the public.

The completed project:
🔹 Restored the façade while respecting its Grade II listed status
🔹 Replaced 1 million+ tiles
🔹 Improved public safety and reduced the risk of water ingress
🔹 Reduced the risk of service delivery disruption
🔹 Delivered £10k+ annual savings against the maintenance budget

Key Performance and Social Value Activity
✅ 100% Client Satisfaction
♻️ 100% Waste Diverted
💷 100% Fair Payments
👷 91% Local Labour within 20 miles
📍 61% Local Spend within 20 miles
🤝 100% SME Spend

“This project, required a sensitive approach. G F Tomlinson worked alongside the Council and Conservation Officer, understanding our concerns and incorporating the constraints we imposed whilst providing sensible solutions to ensure we had budget available to deliver the work. Their knowledge of the local area added great value to the project, not least when working with the NET Team who managed the adjacent tram services. The project was delivered on time and under budget during an unprecedented pandemic that presented challenges in its own right.” Helen Wallace, Senior Project Manager Nottingham City Council

We’re pleased to share the latest progress on The Priory Shopping Centre in Worksop, being delivered on behalf of Bassetlaw District Council and procured through the Pagabo Medium Framework.

Works are continuing across the site, with several key milestones recently achieved:

🔹Leisure Building
Excavation around the completed piles has now been carried out, with the pile caps and ring beam foundations installed. Concrete works to these foundations are now complete, marking another important milestone for the build.
This week, we’ll be commencing the steel frame for the leisure building, taking the project into the next stage of construction.

🔹Bridge Works
Piles have been installed to both sides of the bridge, with Pile cap and foundation works ongoing, which will be followed by the er****on of the bridge and ramps.

🔹Internal Demolition & Strip Out
Demolition works within the existing building have continued at pace. The staircase in Unit 16 has been demolished and the floor removed, with works now progressing into Units 19, 20A, 20B and 20C.

Once these areas are complete, the team will move on to the strip out and demolition of the toilet block. Following this phase, we’ll progress into the fitting-out stage of the building.

It’s great to see continued progress across the project, which will bring a lasting and positive change for Worksop Town Centre. We look forward to sharing further updates as construction continues.

We're pleased to share an update on the Queen Elizabeth Academy project, that G F Tomlinson are delivering on behalf of Academy Transformation Trust, funded by Warwickshire County Council.

The building and all external works are now complete. Achieving this milestone is a testament to the hard work, collaboration, and commitment shown by everyone involved throughout the project.

Our focus has now shifted to the final phase of the works. The team are progressing with the removal of the site compound, access road and temporary fencing, before completing the remaining soil preparation and seeding to fully reinstate the site.
