Cambridge Canoe Club 🛶 Project throwback ✨

Earlier this year, we completed this bespoke steel storage building for Cambridge Canoe Club, giving the growing club much-needed space for around 200–220 boats.

The club had outgrown its existing storage and had originally considered shipping containers. Instead, they opted for a purpose-designed steel building that offered a much more practical, long-term solution — and looked far better in its riverside setting.

The building was designed with the unique location in mind, including:
✔️ Black timber cladding to complement the existing clubhouse
✔️ A terracotta roof
✔️ Flood-resilient foundations and drainage
✔️ Easy-access concrete ramp
✔️ Generous storage capacity for future growth

It’s a great example of how a steel building can provide practical, attractive and long-lasting space for sports clubs - whether you need boat storage, equipment storage, changing facilities or additional club space.

Case Study: New Insulated Steel Storage Building

We recently completed a new 20m x 36m x 5m insulated steel storage building for specialist joinery business Neil Burke Joinery (NBJ) at their Lutterworth site.

With 80mm insulated walls and roof, the building provides a practical, durable space for their storage needs, with the project completed in just 5–6 weeks.

It’s also great to continue working with a returning customer, following previous projects for NBJ, including a workshop extension and roof overcladding.

Spring Lane Playing Fields Project Update 🏈🏏⚽

Our community sports project at Spring Lane, Erdington, is coming along amazingly!

The steel-framed building is now up and fully clad, with the solar panels in place and glazing almost complete. Inside, the blockwork is progressing nicely, while the timber stud work for the new bar is also underway.

There’s still plenty to come, particularly internally, with walls, flooring, finishes and the fit-out still to be completed. Outside, the gutters, downpipes and courtyard canopy are also still to be installed.

It’s brilliant to see this community facility coming together, and we’ll have plenty more updates to share as the project progresses. 🙌

We recently completed a two-phase roofing project in Cheddleton, Staffordshire, overcladding the roofs of a former papermill.

The historic building has been repurposed into fabrication workshops for an agricultural livestock equipment manufacturer.

Phase 1 focused on the large roof to the rear of the building, with Phase 2 covering the majority of the remaining roofs.

Originally built over 100 years ago, the papermill was strategically located close to the canal, railway and River Churnet, with the mill also taking advantage of the vast underground water reservoir beneath the site.

Our overcladding work has helped make this historic building watertight and ready for many more years of use.

A challenging coastal site, restricted access and sloping ground made this a project that required careful planning from the outset.

The finished project is an impressive 15.8m x 19m insulated steel building, providing a secure space for vehicle storage.

Looking back at a project from early 2025 🏋️🚗

Our client wanted a space that could do it all — a dedicated home gym and a secure garage, all within one bespoke steel-framed building.

Another successful project for a returning customer! 👏

It’s always great to work with an existing customer, and this new storage building in Lutterworth, Leicestershire is another project successfully completed by the Midbrook team.

Having previously extended their existing workshop, the client came back to us when they needed even more space for their growing business.

This time, we designed and installed a 20m x 36m x 5m steel storage building, complete with 80mm insulated walls and roof.

And the best part? It’s already being put to good use! 🙌

Not every project comes with easy access… or easy photography! 😅

As you can see from the photos, access to this project in Pembrokeshire was pretty tight, but we’ll be heading back soon with the drone to get some better shots 📸

Set in a stunning coastal location, this 15.8m x 19m steel building was designed to give our client the perfect space to store their vehicles. We also delivered the groundworks as part of the package.

There were a few challenges to overcome along the way, including the peninsula location, tight access and coastal conditions. Our logistics team carefully planned deliveries to make sure everything arrived on the correct-sized vehicles, while the sloped site required a thickened raft foundation.
