Research recently commissioned by NICEIC shows 22% of homeowners haven’t had their electrics checked in over a decade.

An electrical check, known as an EICR, is an essential MOT for the home; helping to spot issues early and keeping people safe.

In privately owned homes, it is recommended an EICR is carried out at least every 10 years, and in rented properties it is a legal requirement to have one at least every 5 years.

The guidance is simple, prioritise the safety of your home by getting your installations checked by a NICEIC-registered electrician.

Today I was at Ascot Fencing in Derby installing LED lights.

Over the last few days I have been replacing some of the existing lights at St Luke’s Church in Derby to energy saving LED lights, it’s a wonderful building and I’ve really enjoyed working on this project.
Whilst I was replacing some of the lights I couldn’t help noticing the truly beautiful design and detail along with the workmanship of the stone and timbers in the amazing building.

Photos of two different properties that I attended in the last couple of months. Nobody was injured but the second property had extensive damage caused from the soot and smoke.
Often bathroom & toilet fan’s are forgotten about as they sit on the wall or ceiling doing the job of extracting.
We include fan inspections on our list when we carry out Electrical installation condition reports (EICR).
I urge everyone to get a torch and shine it into the fan and check if they can see any build up of dust or debris, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to call or message me for advice.

It’s been really interesting working in the Bell museum in Loughborough, I was doing alterations to the video room lighting and installing remote control switches for lights and fitting LED lights inside a wall picture light.
