This is the reason the customers radiators were struggling to get hot, and the boiler making a lot of noise.
It is essential central heating systems are treated and flushed properly on installation, and maintained throughout their life.
This stuff on the inside of the pipework will reduce performance, efficiency and lifespan of your central heating system, and increase gas bills.
It will settle in pipework and radiators, and can set like limescale and will result in what can be costly repair bills.

These radiators were manufactured just up the road from where they were installed, what used to be the local bank.
The longest radiators being nearly 6000mm long, the installers had actually welded 3 radiators together, in place.

At 45 years old, safe to say they haven't done too badly.
