Another job recently completed for a customer. This pull-cord switch had suffered heavy oxidation and heat damage following a water leak at the property a few days earlier.

Once inspected, the damaged section was removed and the installation was made good with the cables stripped back to clean, undamaged copper, the back box was replaced and a new pull-cord faceplate fitted

Water and electrical accessories are never a good combination, and corrosion like this can create poor connections and lead to overheating.

If you’ve recently had a leak near any switches, sockets or electrical fittings, it’s worth getting them checked before continuing to use them.

New spurred socket installed today. Spurred from the existing socket below. All it needs now is plastering.
