A recent restoration project completed to bring this gable and chimney back to a safe, solid, and long-lasting condition.

✔️ Removed all failed cement harling from the gable and chimney.
✔️ Carried out a full chimney rebuild with replacement of damaged stones where required.
✔️ Replaced a quoin on the gable along with 2 skew stones.
✔️ Fully repointed using traditional lime mortar for a breathable, durable finish.

Chimney Rebuilds – Black Isle

We completed two chimney rebuilds on the Black Isle earlier this year, carefully preserving the character and integrity of the original stonework.

The project involved selective replacement of damaged and weathered stones, with new stones dressed and tooled on site to ensure a seamless match with the existing structure.

All masonry was finished using traditional lime mortar, providing both durability and breathability in keeping with best conservation practices.

The chimney haunches were fully renewed to improve weather resistance and structural stability.

The result maintains the original aesthetic while significantly enhancing the longevity of the chimneys.
