As we gear up for a taste of winter this week, we thought we’d introduce a new theme: Myth Buster Mondays!

Myth Buster: “Heat pumps don’t work properly when it gets cold up North.” ❄

Modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate in cold climates. In fact, some models see no capacity drop until temperatures fall below –10°C and continue operating well down to –25°C, with built-in defrost cycles keeping everything running smoothly.

The important part is choosing the right unit and having it properly specified by an experienced, MCS-accredited installer (like us). We’ve been installing heat pumps in some of Scotland’s coldest locations, including Altnaharra, Ballater and Aviemore, for more than a decade, keeping homes warm year after year!

And if you’re still unsure, just look to countries like Sweden, which have over a million heat pumps and far harsher winter conditions than Scotland.

Have you received a message about your solar warranty? Here’s what you need to know.

We’ve been made aware that some people are receiving texts, emails, or phone calls falsely claiming to be from MCS.

MCS is the certification body that sets and maintains high standards across the solar industry.

These messages may claim that your solar warranty has expired and offer to renew it, often by trying to sell you a maintenance or warranty package. They might look or sound official, but they are not legitimate and are not from MCS or any trusted installer.

At AES Solar, protecting our customers and our wider community is important to us. That’s why we’re raising awareness of this issue and supporting MCS in spreading the word.

🟥 Messages claiming your solar warranty has expired
🟥 Unsolicited Contact from "MCS" offering paid services
🟥 A sense of urgency or pressure to act quickly
