🚧 Project Complete at Conisbrough Viaduct 🚧



SGH Civils & Surfacing are pleased to have completed improvement works at Conisbrough Viaduct, helping to enhance safety while maintaining access for the local community.



Our team installed new pedestrian guard rail at both ends of the viaduct to help prevent anti-social behaviour and improve security around the structure. As part of the scheme, we also carefully relocated two existing stone boulders to the side, preserving the character of the area whilst accommodating the new layout.



Importantly, the new guard rail arrangement has been designed to allow continued access for local fun runs and community events, ensuring the viaduct remains a valued asset for everyone to enjoy.



A great job by the team delivering another scheme that balances safety, practicality and community use.

We're pleased to have helped out with the path at Bentley, laying road planings to create a much safer and more reliable surface.



While this is not intended to be the finished long-term solution, it is a practical measure we've taken to fill in the potholes and significantly improve access for everyone using the route, benefiting both local residents and visitors to Bentley Rugby Club.



These works will help make journeys safer, smoother and more enjoyable in the short term while longer-term options continue to be explored. Bringing this

well-used path back into much better condition for the whole community.



Our Managing Director personally volunteered his time to carry out these works. As a coach at the rugby club, he wanted to give something back to the local community and thank residents for all their support over the years — especially the many cups of tea kindly provided by them on the day!

🚧 Project Complete – Grantham Car Park Renovation 🚧



SGH Civils & Surfacing recently completed a car park renovation scheme in Grantham on behalf of a new client, delivering the works within a tight two-day programme to minimise disruption to site users and stakeholders.



The project involved the refurbishment of over 2,500m² of existing carriageway and parking areas, including:



✅ Planing off the existing surface and removing all arisings from site
✅ Mechanical sweeping and application of a bituminous bond coat throughout the scheme
✅ Installation of approximately 2,580m² of SMA10 heavy-duty surface course
✅ Localised reconstruction works with new binder course installed in areas requiring deeper repairs, including sections up to 120mm and 80mm thick
✅ Final compaction and finishing to provide a durable, high-quality surface capable of withstanding daily traffic demands



Careful planning and coordination allowed our team to complete the works safely and efficiently over just two days, ensuring minimal impact on the client's operations while delivering a significantly improved car park surface.



A great effort from everyone involved and another successful project delivered for a new client. We look forward to working together again in the future.

SGH Civils & Surfacing recently attended Schofield Park in Mexborough to complete the installation of 37 metres of bow top fencing around the park.

The new fencing has been installed to help prevent anti-social behaviour whilst also improving the overall appearance and security of the area for the local community.

Our team completed the works efficiently and to a high standard, delivering a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution that will benefit the park for years to come.

🌙🚧 Two Nights, Four Locations, One Successful Delivery 🚧🌙



SGH Civils & Surfacing recently completed a programme of carriageway resurfacing works on behalf of Doncaster Council, delivering improvements across four separate locations over just two night shifts to minimise disruption to residents and road users.

The works included sites at:



📍 Cherry Lane
📍 Marshgate (Location 1)
📍 Marshgate (Location 2)
📍 North Bridge Road



Across the scheme, our team carried out:



✅ Planing of the existing carriageway surface to a depth of 40mm
✅ Application of bituminous spray bond coat
✅ Installation of new 40mm SMA 10mm aggregate surface course

✅ Installation of new 40mm SMA10 68PSV on approaches to pedestrian crossings

✅ Localised carriageway patch repairs and resurfacing works
✅ Careful coordination of traffic management and night-time operations



In total, over 1,600m² of carriageway was resurfaced, restoring worn sections of road and providing a safer, smoother surface for motorists.



A great effort from the team working through the night to ensure these essential maintenance works were completed safely, efficiently and with minimal impact on the travelling public.



Well done to everyone involved in another successful project delivered for Doncaster Council.

📢 Pighill Allotments Project Update 📢



Great progress continues at Pighill Allotments on behalf of City of Doncaster Council.



Over the past week, our team has successfully installed the planter beds and completed the concrete bases that will support the gazebos, modular buildings, and benches across the site. We've also finished stoning up the entire area, bringing the site to its required levels and preparing it for the next phase of works.



In addition, the Klargester cesspool has now been successfully installed, marking another key milestone in the infrastructure works and ensuring the site is ready to support the future facilities.



Looking ahead to next week, SGH Civils & Surfacing will be installing the BodPave surfacing around the accessible planter beds, creating durable and inclusive access throughout the development. Following this, we'll be moving on to erecting the two impressive polytunnels, each measuring 21ft x 48ft, which will be a fantastic addition to the allotment facilities.



It's great to see this scheme really taking shape, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses.
