Hungarian Hot Wax Chilli seeds bought from Red Dragon Seeds

These plants are performing really well outside in my vegetable garden and there are lots of chillies on both plants. They are medium hot with a SHU rating of 5,000-15,000. I did put one in a chilli with a naga Smooky Rainbow and I have to say I found it too hot to handle so I plan next time to use just one of these! 😅

Let’s talk Cherry tomatoes! They are a must have in my vegetable garden as they are the first to ripen and are just such a delicious, sweet burst of flavour when you eat them!

The varieties I’m growing are:

James’s red cherry
James’s orange cherry
Golden cherry
Black cherry

The James’s cherry tomatoes were named that by me as they grew self seeded in a garden where my husband was working last year and they were so prolific and delicious that I saved the seeds to grow again.

I think my favourite though is the black Cherry, it is just so flavoursome this year!

Just harvesting some tomatoes from my balcony garden! This tomato is a dwarf variety called Balkonzauber which is a determinate variety that grows to 40-60 cms tall so has been perfect to grow on my balcony in a pot! I have two of these growing here and they seem very happy! The fruits are slightly bigger than my cherry tomatoes growing in my veg patch but not quite as big as a salad tomato. They taste sweet and are very delicious!

Do you help pollinate your courgettes? This is not really necessary if the bees are working hard and achieving pollination for you, but often people find the fruits dropping off or looking rotten snd small on the plant and they are not getting them growing to a harvestable size. I find this method really helps in my vegetable garden to ensure I get that glut of courgettes (or Zucchini) that everyone enjoys and looks forward to! 😂

Can you guess what variety these chilli peppers are?

From the variety pack of seeds I got from Red Dragon Seeds when I bought some chilli seeds.

Hopefully my clues will help direct you.

The flowers are white and similar size to a normal pepper. The fruits start green and have now ripened to orange (assuming they won’t ripen further to a different colour). The chilli peppers are 5-6 cms long. They are smooth and look like small sweet peppers.

Any guesses what you think they might be? I don’t know the answer so am willing to take any suggestions. 😊

I’m so pleased with how my little balcony garden is growing, it seems to be doing better than my veg patch! 😂 Maybe it’s because I can water it better amd more easily keep an eye on it. I’m a Long way off having any melons but it’s nice to see them starting to appear, I may have to get the paintbrush out to aid with pollination. Mind you, there are lots of flowers on my balcony snd lots of bees keep visiting, so maybe I’ll be lucky without any interference! 🤞

Loving the strawberries this year. I got new plants last year and created a new strawberry bed and they are really coming into their own! Now it’s wet though, a few have been claimed by the slugs, but thankfully there’s more good ones there than I can keep up with! What do you do with your strawberries? I’m thinking I may have to freeze some. I would make jam, but I don’t really seem to eat much jam these days. At the moment I have a bowl of fresh strawberries on the kitchen table, I’m hoping by having them on display it will encourage everyone in the family to eat some! I can’t seem to buy organic strawberries at the supermarket so homegrown must be best! I wonder how long I will be picking strawberries for, I hope they don’t all come at once! 🤞
