🏰 Conservation Works at Margaret’s Castle, Ardglass 🏰
Over the coming period, we will be undertaking carefully planned conservation works at Margaret’s Castle, one of Ardglass’s important medieval tower houses.
The works are focused on protecting and stabilising the historic fabric of the building and will include:
🔹 Sensitive removal of vegetation from the walls and wall heads
🔹 Lime capping to wall tops to help shed water and protect the masonry
🔹 Rebuilding of loose and displaced stonework where required
🔹 Repointing using traditional lime mortar, allowing the structure to breathe and perform as originally intended
All work will follow best conservation practice, using appropriate traditional materials and techniques to ensure the long-term preservation of this important historic landmark.
We look forward to safeguarding this piece of Ardglass’s heritage for future generations.
