It's the details that make a house extraordinary.

Beautiful homes aren't just about impressive architecture or stunning interiors. They're about the craftsmanship, care and attention that goes into every stage of their creation.

From beautifully executed stonework and bespoke joinery to the finishing touches that bring everything together, it's these details that turn an ambitious vision into a truly exceptional home.

At Clarke Construction Group, we're passionate about creating homes that are as beautifully built as they are to look at.

Because true quality isn't just something you see. It's something you experience.

By the time a finished house starts looking impressive, some of the most important work has already been buried.

Foundations.

Drainage.

Utility connections.

Retaining structures.

Ground stabilisation.

None of it will appear in the final photographs, but every part of the building relies on it.

Groundworks are not simply a case of digging to a standard depth and pouring concrete. Soil conditions change, water moves across sites and existing services are not always where old drawings suggest they should be.

A thorough assessment at the start helps determine the right foundations, drainage strategy and routes for water, electricity, gas and other services.

Mistakes underground are particularly disruptive and expensive to correct later, which is why accuracy at this stage matters so much.

It may not be the most glamorous part of construction, but there is real satisfaction in knowing everything above ground is supported by work that has been done properly.

We recently installed this stunning freestanding bath from Witt & Berg England in one of our clients' beautiful Cotswold homes.

With its polished finish, elegant detailing and timeless design, it's a real centrepiece, perfectly complemented by the marble surroundings and warm brass accents.

It's finishing touches like these that turn a beautiful bathroom into something truly special.

What do you think? Could you see yourself relaxing here? ✨

Not every detail in a CCG project comes from a catalogue.

A lot of it is made by our own team.

Having our own in-house joinery workshop means we can design and create pieces specifically for the property — from bespoke cabinetry and fitted wardrobes to staircases, doors, panelling, windows and traditional architectural joinery.

It's particularly valuable when we're working with period and listed homes, where an off-the-shelf solution often simply doesn't look right.

Our joiners can match existing details, work around unusual proportions and create pieces that feel as though they've always belonged to the building.

And you don't need to be undertaking a full Clarke Construction renovation to use them.

If you've got a standalone joinery project — whether it's a bespoke piece of furniture, fitted cabinetry, doors, windows or something completely unique — our joinery team can work with you directly.

Have something in mind? Get in touch and tell us what you'd like to create.

A listed home should still feel like a home.

The challenge is introducing modern comfort without losing the things that made the building special in the first place.

Heating, bathrooms, modern kitchens, lighting, data, insulation and contemporary living spaces can often all form part of a listed-building renovation — but they need to be considered alongside the property's original fabric.

Stonework. Lime plaster. Timber. Historic joinery. Existing proportions and details.

Understanding how an older building was constructed is crucial, because inappropriate materials or poorly considered alterations can create problems that may not become obvious for years.

For us, the aim isn't to make an old building feel new.

It's to give it another chapter.

One that works for modern life while preserving the character that has survived for generations.

If you're considering the renovation of a listed or period property in the Cotswolds, we'd be happy to discuss it.

The best extension isn't necessarily the biggest.

It's the one that makes the whole house work better.

A few carefully planned metres can completely change the way a home flows — opening the kitchen to the garden, bringing light into previously dark rooms or creating the space a growing family actually needs.

But the new space can't be designed in isolation.

Rooflines, proportions, natural light, materials and the relationship between old and new all have to be considered if the finished extension is going to feel like part of the home rather than something simply added onto it.

Some extensions are designed to disappear into the original building.

Others deliberately create a contrast between historic and contemporary architecture.

Both can work beautifully when they're done properly.

Considering an extension or major renovation? Get in touch with the CCG team to discuss what could be possible.

A commercial space has to do more than look good.

It has to work.

Restaurants need efficient routes between kitchen and customer. Retail spaces need to cope with changing displays and heavy footfall. Offices need lighting, acoustics and layouts that make them genuinely good places to work.

And when you're working with an existing or historic building, there's often another challenge: delivering all of that while respecting the character of the property — and, in some cases, keeping the business operating around the work.

From refurbishment and structural alterations to complete commercial transformations, careful planning is every bit as important as the finished appearance.

Because the best commercial spaces don't just impress customers.

They make the business inside them work better.

Planning a commercial refurbishment in the Cotswolds? We'd be happy to talk through the project.

Old buildings usually tell you what they want to become.

The skill is listening before trying to force a completely new idea onto them.

A barn might have incredible roof timbers worth celebrating. An old commercial building could have large openings that create wonderful natural light. A historic outbuilding may have stonework, proportions or details that would be impossible to reproduce convincingly today.

The challenge with a conversion is bringing in warmth, services, insulation and modern comforts without stripping away everything that made the building interesting in the first place.

We’ve worked on barns, garages, lofts, commercial buildings and some far more unusual structures. Every one comes with different structural, planning and conservation challenges.

That is also what makes them so rewarding.

A successful conversion doesn’t hide what the building used to be.

It gives it a new purpose while allowing the original character to remain part of the story.

What unused building would you love the chance to transform?

Following the demolition of the former swimming pool and leisure facilities, work at Hyll Hotel has moved firmly into the groundworks stage. Extensive excavations have been completed, reinforcement has been installed and concrete is now being poured to form the foundations and ground beams that will support the new multifunction wedding venue and event space.

Structural steel sections are also being introduced to reinforce key areas of the site and support the changes in level around the historic buildings. Much of this work will eventually disappear beneath the finished venue, but it is an essential stage in ensuring the new structure remains strong and secure for generations to come.
