Failed Flat Roof & Box Gutter Repaired in York with PP Liquid System. We were recently called to a property in York where a flat roof and wrap-around box gutter had been leaking. The roof had already been repaired by another company, but unfortunately, the fix had failed, and the water ingress had returned.

Charity Cycle Ride Update: Graham and Rich set off from home at 3am on Thursday, aiming for Morecambe. By the time they reached Grassington they were soaked through, chilled to the bone, and made the sensible call to book into a hotel, get dry, and rest.

Friday morning, 4:30am, they were back on the bikes heading towards Morecambe. The conditions were brutal with an 18mph headwind and relentless rain. They pushed on as far as Settle, where they stopped for breakfast, still drenched, and with no sign of the rain easing.

At that point, with the forecast showing wind and rain all day, they decided to abandon the ride. Both of them were gutted, but once the decision was made they knew it was the right one. Watch this space for spring 2026, they've done it before, and are determined it won’t beat them!

Our skilled Master Craftsman, Jonny Hyde, took on the challenge. The entire hopper was meticulously formed by hand in our workshop from Code 6 lead, ensuring superior quality and durability.

The final installation was a perfect fit, seamlessly integrating with the existing stonework to provide a functional and aesthetically pleasing result. This project is a testament to the value of true craftsmanship, where modern techniques meet traditional skills to solve complex problems.

Our next team member is Richard Swallow, our Contracts Manager who has been with us 8 years. Richard is our go-to expert for overseeing roofing projects from start to finish. With a background in construction and site management, he brings strong leadership, meticulous planning, and excellent communication skills to every project. He manages the team’s daily workflow, liaises with clients and the operations manager, and ensures projects run smoothly.

A natural problem-solver with a can-do attitude, Richard is approachable and thrives on finding creative solutions. He holds an NVQ Level 3 in Site Management and is currently working towards his NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Site Management.

As Contracts Manager, Richard is responsible for surveying sites, preparing drawings, estimates, and pricing, as well as the day-to-day management of the team. He plays a key role in maintaining high standards, meeting project deadlines, and ensuring client satisfaction.

Fun Fact:
An avid Sunderland AFC fan, Richard never misses a match—home or away. When he’s not on-site or cheering on his team, he enjoys spending time with his family, organic gardening, and supporting environmental causes. Passionate about sustainability, he loves recycling and is looking forward to upgrading to a fully electric works van. His adventurous side once saw him take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, completing it in just 10 hours!
