Most of today is going to be about CPD, ‘continued professional development’.

We need to put in a minimum number of approved ‘learning’ hours in a year to continue providing EPCs to the standard required by the accreditation companies and ensuring accuracy of our reports.

DID YOU KNOW?

The data required to produce an EPC is being overhauled in June 2025 in a bid to customise the EPC and make it more accurate.

We are ready for the changes which include a more detailed report on windows for the dwelling rather than a generalisation- fixed window blinds will also be taken into consideration amongst other measures.

However, we don’t just produce a report for the client. We are well versed in all aspects of energy efficiency so can provide face to face advice in plain english.

Did you know that the more controllable your heating is, the better?

Controls have a huge effect on the energy performance rating with no controls being poor and a zonal controlled system being very good.

Common loft insulation

Most people will know what this does. Put simply, it helps keep heat in a property, stopping it ( well, slowing it ) escaping into the roof space.

Did you know, a depth of 270mm is normally recommended within an energy performance report if existing insulation is 100mm or less. The increase in the rating is variable based on many factors.

An ‘energy efficient’ air source heat pump.

But did you know that this type of much hyped heating could INCREASE your energy costs rather than reduce them? This will mean that your EPC rating will actually be reduced.

Though they are an efficient producer of heat, they are not suitable for all homes, always take impartial advice to check if they are suitable for your home.
