Recently completed this job installing new lighting in a cattle shed, including dedicated circuits back to the board and a separate switch for better control.
The client got in touch as they were struggling with poor lighting, especially with calving season approaching, so it was important to get things upgraded quickly and properly. I carried out a full survey, provided a quote, and once approved, we completed the job on time and to a high standard.
Really enjoyed working on this one I’ve always enjoyed farm work and getting practical results like this makes it even better.
If your farm could benefit from improved lighting or electrical upgrades, feel free to get in touch.

Shares are always appreciated!

A fuseboard (or consumer unit) change is definitely worth considering in a few specific cases. It’s not something you do just for the sake of it but if any of these points apply, it’s usually time to upgrade:

Old-style rewireable fuses: If your board still has wire fuses instead of circuit breakers (MCBs or RCBOs), it’s outdated and less safe. Modern units trip faster and protect against electric shock.

No RCD protection: Newer boards include Residual Current Devices (RCDs) or RCBOs that cut power instantly if they detect a fault — vital for safety in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor circuits.

Home renovations or additions: Adding new circuits (like for an EV charger, extension, or new kitchen) often requires a modern board that meets current wiring regulations.

Nuisance tripping or burnt smells: Signs of poor connections or overloaded circuits both serious safety hazards.

It turned out to be one of those genuinely satisfying days at work where everything just seemed to fall into place. The sun was shining from the start, making it a pleasure to be outside rather than stuck indoors. Most of the time was spent out in the open, getting on with installing an outdoor socket and coring a hole for a fan. If You’ve got any jobs that need doing, feel free to get in touch, always happy to help.

Soffit lights are always a fantastic addition to any home. They provide clean, subtle lighting without bulky floodlights sticking out from your new roughcast and fascias.
On this project, I installed angled soffit lights to beautifully illuminate the walkway and front door area. The system includes two motion sensors, so the lights activate when you approach from either side of the property. There’s also an override switch, allowing you to keep them on when heading out, perfect for added security and peace of mind.
