Nothing holding them onto the roof
No battens
No nails
Just gravity

Absolutely amazing

This roof was still watertight (ish)

This is why you don’t powerwash roof tiles.

Concrete has inconsistencies in the mix ( more sand than aggregate)

Power washing is like 20 years or rainfall erosion in ten seconds.

It rarely shows when it’s done but presents itself like this a few years later

Don’t do it!!

Last weeks challenge.
Stripping out rotten sarking and repairing a chimney
And demolishing another chimney that was falling apart
General slate repairs

Before and afters of a chimney repoint
These would have needed a rebuild after another couple of freezing winters.

Prevention is better than cure

Just need a wee wash off once the cement has cured and they’ll be good for another few decades

Loose chimney pots.
old cement removed bonding agent applied and haunched in with cement.

Another leaky chimney demolished.

If a chimney like this is leaking and not in use it’s often more cost effective to remove rather than repair.
