🔨 Sometimes the real job only reveals itself once the old bathroom comes out… 😳

We shared the finished photos from this Kelty bathroom recently — but there was rather more to this one than the finished pictures showed. 🚿

Once the existing bathroom was stripped back, we uncovered extensive historic water damage beneath the floor and into sections of the surrounding wall structure.

What started as a bathroom renovation quickly became a much bigger repair job. 🫣

The damaged flooring and affected timberwork were removed, the floor structure repaired and strengthened, insulation reinstated and the room properly rebuilt before we could even begin creating the new bathroom.

From there, the new shower area was formed, recessed niches built in, walls prepared and waterproofed, and the room could finally start going back together. 🔨🪚🚿

And eventually… that last photo. 😍

A lot of the most important work in a bathroom is the part you’ll hopefully never see again.

🚿 Cloakroom #2 | Kirkcaldy 📍

Another small room with a lot more going on behind the scenes than you’d think. 👀🔧

This cloakroom originally relied on a Saniflo system 😳, so as part of the complete rip-out we removed it altogether and installed proper soil pipe drainage beneath the floor, connecting into the existing drainage outside.

Easy enough to say — considerably less enjoyable to actually do with the very limited access underneath! 🤬🤣

While everything was stripped back, we also installed recessed basin drainage, new shower drainage and a low-access shower tray, giving us a much cleaner finished installation. 🚿

The customer wanted the new room to feel in keeping with the age and character of the house 🏡, so we sourced the sanitaryware and fittings around the style they had in mind.

✨ Classic white metro tiles
✨ Moulded tile edging carried around the room
✨ Chrome towel radiator
✨ New LED downlights 💡
✨ Oak shelf & storage cabinet for a little warmth

The traditional sanitaryware, white ceramic lever details and polished chrome work really well with the metro tiles, while the oak details stop the room feeling too clinical. 👌

A lot squeezed into a very small space — with plenty of work hidden underneath that you’ll never see in the finished photos.

And best of all…

No Saniflo required. 😁👏

Strathore Road, Glenrothes 🏡🔨

A complete transformation of this kitchen as part of the wider renovation at Strathore Road.

The room was fully stripped out and plastered, with additional sockets added throughout ⚡️ before the new kitchen went in.

With a concrete ceiling ruling out downlights, we went a different route with the lighting 💡 — low-hanging shades over the kitchen, LED lighting beneath the wall units and lighting incorporated into the open shelving.

The oak wall cabinets were reclaimed and given a new lease of life ♻️, with matching oak back panels and open shelving helping tie everything together 🪵👌

Finished off with wall tiles from Tile Boutique Kirkcaldy, oak-effect vinyl flooring and all the final details to bring the room together ✨

From plain and practical to something with a bit more personality… 🛁✨

This bathroom formed part of a full property renovation we carried out at Strathore Road, ready for the property going back on the market. 🏠

The original bathroom was perfectly functional, but fairly basic — white walls, white tiles around the bath and a black tiled floor. We wanted to give the room a completely different feel while also making better use of what is quite a compact space.

Everything was stripped right back 🔨, the room was fully replastered, new lighting installed and the hot, cold and waste pipework completely reworked.

One of the biggest changes was the bath.

We fitted a full-size Carron space-saver bath, which narrows towards the basin end. It still gives you a proper full-size bath, but that little change makes a surprising difference to the usable space around the basin and helps the whole room feel less cramped. 👌

For the finishes, we went for large-format grey tiles around the bath and shower, contrasted with deep green vertical tiles through the rest of the room. The small hexagonal floor tiles brought the two sides of the scheme together and added a bit more detail without making the room feel busy.

The tiles were sourced locally from Tile Boutique Kirkcaldy

A concealed WC cistern, wall-hung vanity, new lighting and a rainfall shower finished everything off. 🚿

Quite a change from the all-white bathroom we started with — and a good example of how much can be done with a relatively small room when the layout, colours and details are all considered together. 😁

Small room, complete transformation. ✨

This cloakroom was previously tiled throughout in brown, which made an already small space feel very dark.

We stripped the room completely, replastered throughout, added new downlighting 💡 and reworked the plumbing — including recessing the pipework into the wall at the basin to keep everything as clean as possible. 👌

The neutral wall tiles keep the room light and fresh, while the patterned floor tiles chosen by the customer bring all the character. 💙

And the cupboard at the end? Completely bespoke. 🪚
We made the two doors from a single timber door, split it down the middle and deliberately used exposed black hinges and handles to give it that traditional boarded-door look.

A lot packed into a very small room. 🔨👌

From hidden water damage to this… 🚿✨

We were contacted by these customers following a recommendation to carry out a complete bathroom renovation.

They’d moved into the property around a year earlier and hadn’t realised that the existing wet-wall installation hadn’t been properly sealed. Water had been getting through unnoticed for some time, and the first real sign of trouble came when the floor tiles started cracking underfoot.

At that point, we knew there was going to be damage underneath. The question was just how much. 😬

Once the bathroom was stripped out, the extent became clear. The flooring around the shower had deteriorated badly, along with sections of the supporting timberwork, so everything affected was stripped back and the floor structure rebuilt before we could start putting the room back together🔨

Then came the slightly easier part…

The customer showed me a photograph in a Topps Tiles brochure and said:

“That’s what I want.”

Challenge accepted. 😁

We sourced the materials and recreated the look for their room, including a few details that couldn’t simply be bought off the shelf.

Walnut bathroom furniture proved particularly difficult to find, so the tall storage units were made using stacked Howdens base cabinets. The floating vanity unit was then made bespoke from another base cabinet — cut down, adapted and finished with a solid-surface top to create exactly the look we wanted🪵👌

All works were undertaken by Renov8 Pro, with the tiling completed by one of our trusted subcontractors.

What started with a leaking shower and a badly damaged floor ended with a completely rebuilt bathroom, bespoke furniture and the design the customer had originally picked from a photograph.

Quite a transformation. 👌✨
