We’re proud to announce that Western has been appointed as the main contractor for the new Department of Critical Care at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital – a landmark healthcare project that will help transform care for some of the county’s most seriously ill patients.

Delivered for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust through the NHS SBS framework, this purpose-built facility will provide a modern, flexible environment designed to meet growing demand, improve patient outcomes and support frontline clinical teams for years to come.

Marking the start of this exciting journey, our recent groundbreaking event brought together project partners to celebrate the beginning of construction. The architectural visualisations offer a first look at what will become a vital addition to the Trust’s estate, supporting high-quality critical care for the local community.

We’re looking forward to working collaboratively with the Trust and the wider project team to deliver a facility that will make a lasting difference for patients, staff and the people of Gloucestershire.

The Slough Community Diagnostic Centre at Upton Hospital is a project we're incredibly proud to have delivered for Frimley Health .

These new drone images capture the scale of the completed facility, providing a fresh perspective on the £25m, 2,800m² building delivered in just 52 weeks.

Designed and constructed using a turnkey approach, advanced offsite manufacturing and BIM-led design, the centre is helping transform access to healthcare by providing capacity for up to 150,000 additional diagnostic tests every year, supporting earlier diagnosis and reducing waiting times across the region.

It's rewarding to see the finished building in operation and making a real difference for patients and the local community.

We were delighted to welcome James Breen for a week of work experience alongside his father, Benny Breen. It’s important to us to support opportunities like this, giving young people a real insight into the construction industry and a chance to see the skills, teamwork, and standards that go into every job we deliver.

Work experience plays a big role in building confidence, sparking interest in the trade, and helping the next generation understand what a career in construction can look like in practice.

It was great to have James on site learning the ropes from Benny and the wider team—an experience we’re proud to support at Western.

A bright start at Augher Central Primary School ☀️

With clear skies and temperatures rising, today’s delivery saw a new modular classroom arrive on site, marking a key milestone in the project. There’s something impressive about watching a building make its journey from factory floor to final destination in a single day.

Now safely in place, the next phase of works can begin as this new learning space starts to take shape.
