The Peacemakers Museum opened its doors with a memorable and heartfelt ceremony on Friday past.
The ribbon was cut by Mary Elliott Nelis, a dear friend of the Gasyard Centre and a respected community activist.
The museum would not have been possible without the generous support and dedication of its funder The National Lottery Heritage Fund and we were delighted to be joined by director Dr Paul Mullan, who spoke at the event.
There are too many people to thank individually for their input in taking the museum from a concept to reality, however, we have to give special mention to Urban Villages, The Executive Office , Housing Executive, Derry City & Strabane District Council, Department for Communities and Arts Council of Northern Ireland for all their help and support throughout the process.
Peacemakers Museum is located in the Gasyard Centre, which has undergone a recent renovation under the guidance of Gravity Architects, JPM Contracts Ltd, Design Map - Creating Narrative Spaces and JP Conaghan. We are forever grateful for your skilled navigation in bringing our ideas to life.
Thank you to Ann from McCadden and Andy from Grays Communication for all your help in bringing the brand to life and developing our online presence. We are extremely proud of what you have created.
Through the process we have been fully supported and helped by the other amazing tenants in the Gasyard Centre, thanks to Triax - Neighbourhood Management Team, Hive Cancer Support, SureStart Edenballymore, Success North West, Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir and Gather at the Gasyard.
Last, but not least thank you to Declan Nelis, Tom Heaney, George Sweeney and Deaglán and Jake of Dearcán Media for capturing the event; thank you to harpist Fállon McKinney who provided a beautiful abience to Afternoon Tea provided by Gather at the Gasyard.
