It’s nearly Back-to-School
Time where I resume my gardening club duties for St Cedds school Chelmsford 👨‍🌾

My little group comprises of 10 x year 4 children… I have just drawn up a little plan of what veggies to sow & plant with them this Autumn term 🍂 🌱 🪴

These veggies are perfect additions to soups & stir fry’s to keep you warm over the chilly months 💨 🌧️ 🥶

WHY NOT HAVE A GO YOURSELF?!

This little patch is fantastic for kids to learn where food comes from and how it’s grown. Also a great starter for anyone wishing to start growing their own vegetables 🥕🫛🌿

All you need is 1 x square meter border/plot OR approx. 4 x grow bags or 12 x 30cm plant pots….

Shopping list:
Multi purpose compost
Bamboo canes
Spring Cabbage plug plants 🥬
Autumn Carrot plug plants 🥕
Red & White Onion Sets 🧅
(Can be purchased online or garden centers)

Seeds packets to buy:

Broad Beans 🫘
Spring onion 🌱
Red Oak Leaf Lettuce 🥬
Little Gem Lettuce 🥬
(Or a Winter variety such as Winter Density)
Radish 🌱
Spinach 🌱
Rocket 🌱
Mizuna or Winter Salad Mix 🥗
Peas 🫛
Coriander 🌿

Looking to re-vamp your garden borders? I am a local soft landscape designer specialising in planting the right plants in the right place. Even if you’ve got the trickiest area in your garden - there is always something that will grow and flourish… you just need the right plant. With nearly 10 years experience under my belt, I gained my qualification at Writtle Agricultural College . I ran my own gardening business for 4 years, before moving to become Head Gardener at an Independent School in Chelmsford tending a four acre site.

Do you have that annoying shady border in your garden where nothing really grows? Or are you just unsure of what to plant? 🌓🌝

Fear not… I have decided to create a border plan specifically for the shade and our Essex clay soil. The plants I have chosen will thrive in clay soil, providing they’re watered regularly!
💦 🪴

My border plans come with 3m x 1m easy to follow plan, a plant list & quantity needed, aftercare instructions and a mood board. The plants in the plant show their final growing size, so you get a lovely full border.

I can also give you a ball park figure of the cost….so you can decide what sizes suit your budget best.

These plans can be tweaked to fit any area or they can just give you an idea of what plants to use to fill the gaps of your existing garden border.

These can be easily sent to you by email, where you can print them out your end…..

In the sweltering heat of today I decided to re-vamp my polytunnel…

It had become a bit of a dumping ground .. my potting table was too low and there was crap everywhere 🤣

Anyway with the use of an old coffee table that had been sitting in the garden and some rustic potato chitting trays, I’ve made myself a new potting station.

Am chuffed to bits.. there’s a place for everything now and plenty of seed trays to sow some salad crops!

The veggies are growing well in the polytunnel, loads of tomatoes 🍅 courgettes and cucumbers 🥒 growing…

My little Potager is growing nicely too…. Loads of lovely fresh veggies to come 🥰🍎🍐🫐🍒🍅🍆🫛🥦🥬🥕🌽🫑🌶️🧅🥔
