Wall rebuild in Shotley Bridge. Quite a challenging build with lots of very small thin stone. I reduced the height, added almost 2 tonnes of lime mortar and still used all of the stone from the original wall.

Yesterday I hand picked 4.5 tonnes of stone from the quarry to finish putting the copes on this, my longest wall to date. That’s roughly 100 tonnes of stone in total. (I’m not sure if it’s me or the dog panting in the video!)

New project started today rejuvenating two lovely stone cottages in Frosterley.

These two properties have been a symphony of beige for about 50 years, with cement render hiding the real beauty of the building behind. The render is being removed ready for raking out and repointing in lime mortar which will allow the property to breathe again.
