Wainscoting (panelling the lower part of a room)

This room was given the wainscoting effect using mouldings and dado rail fixed straight to bare wall.

This allows you to get the look without having to remove original skirting, once painted and wallpapered (done by customer) it looks pretty awesome! 👌🏼

It's a really effective way to transform even a smaller room, giving it a bigger/more grand feel with character on top!

It's a-bow-t tie-me I posted something.

So here's a little job making an oak mantel completed in a couple of hours on an evening this week.

Bowtie joints (butterfly/Dutchman) are used as visually appealing way to stop further splitting in timber.

Run a rough sawn oak sleeper through the thicknesser. Cut and glued a few Bowtie joints, sanded down and voila a nice oak mantel!

Will look forward to seeing it oiled and fit in place.

Enjoy your weekend !

One for the book lovers!

As an avid collector of books myself this was a great job to be asked to do from start to finish.

Two built in bookcases either side of the double doors finished with hand painted tradtional panelling makes great functional and aesthetic use of this space!

Customer is happy! Great excuse to buy more books 📚

It has been a busy but great start to 2022.
Lots of jobs already completed with some exciting ones to come!

One recently completed was this staircase renovation.

The old white paneled style didn't let much light in to the space so the customer wanted a more contemporary look giving a more light, spacious feel we included:

- oak and glass panel stair renovation.
- new oak cottage doors.
- new architraves and skirting board.
- replacing under stairs cupboard with an oak door cut to fit and match.

With new carpets and paint it was quite the transformation!

Feature wall panelling

It was great to be part of this 'gentleman' themed room transformation with panelling & new oak door installed by myself.

The customer obviously has great taste and was over the moon with the finished result.

Embleton and Oak Staircase Transformation!

New customer wanted her 60's paneled staircase replaced with:

- Embleton style pine spindles.
- Pine base rail.
- Oak handrail and newel caps

Removing and replacing it with spindles opened up the hallway making it a much brighter space.

They also removed porch door adding even more to the transformation.

Finished with:

- Clear satin oil on the handrail/newel caps.
- White paint on the rest done by the customer.

Overall super happy with this one!

Oak and glass panel staircase renovation.

Glass panels fitted today finishing off this transformation giving a much brighter/modern feel to this hallway and landing area.

The old 70s style newels and handrails were ripped out and replaced with solid oak newels, handrails/base rails and caps, the stringers were then clad with oak.

Finished off with two coats of oil and toughened glass panels templated to fit.

Another happy customer!

One of the last jobs completed in 2020.

Wardrobe from design to finished product, to cover a unsightly fuse board and add some needed storage to the room...

Simple, high quality finish (painter done an amazing job) and relatively cost-effective, also inkeeping with the rest of the house.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, looking forward to 2021.

Oak and Glass Staircase Renovation.

Customer had a very '70s' staircase and wanted to modernise it with a simple but elegant look.
They went for oak newel posts, handrails and base rails grooved to allow glass panels to be slotted in.

The stringers were clad with real oak veneer sheet, capped with solid oak.

The wall underneath the stairs was just a void, so that was knocked through and a wine rack was made and fitted adding another feature to the staircase.

Oak was then oiled with osmo oil, once the carpet fitters had been and the final coat of paint went on (by the customer) the end result was an amazing transformation that the customer was over the moon with.

It was an awesome job to get to do.

Utility room cupboard & worksurface.

Ready for paint, the customer wanted a utility room with units to allow for their dryer, washing machine & dishwasher. Also plenty of shelving/storage.

Being an old house the different levels and depths of walls were challenging to work with, but had fun designing and working out the best use of the space.

Worktop was cut back, curved with the router and re edged.

Overall the customer is happy!! 😃
