The pin at the Ramside, food at Akarsu Turkish Restaurant & Grill and then an escape room challenge; Dale, Aaron & Cameron comfortably escaping before Mark, Mick & Lewis.

🔥 Meet Mark – Fire Systems Director at Lavelec

With over 20 years of experience in the fire protection industry, Mark brings a wealth of expertise from working across all commercial and industrial sectors, as well as offshore projects. His knowledge spans everything from system design and compliance to project delivery and client support. At Lavelec, he leads our fire systems department with precision, passion, and a deep commitment to safety.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys quality time with his wife and two daughters - whether holidaying, exploring the countryside and coast, or discovering the region’s top food spots. He’s a keen golfer (hoping to improve his handicap once he’s no longer considered a “cool dad”- a status his 11-year-old says is fading fast!), and also enjoys occasional hiking and running, having completed both the Yorkshire and National Three Peaks.

👋 Meet Cameron – Our New Electrical Apprentice
We’re delighted to officially welcome Cameron to the Lavelec team! Over the past few months, he’s shown a fantastic work ethic and a real enthusiasm for learning.

Cameron is now beginning his 3-year electrical apprenticeship at New College Durham, and we’re proud to support him on this exciting journey.

At Lavelec, we’re committed to investing in the future of the electrical trade. Cameron joins two other apprentices at different stages of their training, helping us build a skilled and professional team for the years ahead.

We’re excited to welcome Lewis, our third-year Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprentice, who officially joined us this week!

Having watched Lewis grow and develop over the past few years, we’re absolutely delighted that he has chosen to continue his apprenticeship journey with Lavelec. His enthusiasm and dedication have already made a positive impression.

Lewis hit the ground running, travelling to Preston on Monday with one of our Directors to attend to a fire system fault. He’s also getting involved in a number of other projects this week while continuing his personal development training.

At Lavelec, we remain committed to nurturing future talent through apprenticeships and building a highly skilled, supportive team for the future.

We would like to congratulate on Horden Cricket Club 2nd XI on their successful campaign and achieving promotion. A great effort from all at the club.

And it’s promotion for the 2nd XI…

It’s been a long hard slog for the guys, with some up’s and down’s, but we’ve eventually hit our target.

Unconventional in their approach at times, but effective nonetheless.

Hard work has certainly paid off for the boys. We thank every single player that has represented the 2s this season, all your endeavours have paid off..!!

Work is well underway at Dene Academy in Peterlee as the Lavelec team begins the installation of a major LED lighting upgrade.

Following a full survey and bespoke lighting design, our team is now delivering an energy-efficient transformation across the school. All old fixtures are being carefully dismantled, with lamps and batteries responsibly recycled as part of our commitment to sustainability.

Once complete, the new LED system will bring:

✅ Enhanced lighting performance

✅ Lower energy bills

✅ Reduced maintenance

✅ Improved environmental impact

A brighter, smarter, and greener future for Dene Academy! 🌍💡

Carrying out an Electrical Installation Condition Report in a restaurant in Newcastle city centre and found this fuse wrapped in tin foil to keep the gas interlock system on 🙈

New kit bags for the team arrived today. This was our final order from in Durham. We always try and keep it local and for our workwear, these guys have never let us down. We can't fault them at all.

Lavelec Electrical Services is thrilled to announce it has secured a contract with Advance Learning Partnership to deliver significant LED lighting upgrades at Dene Academy in Peterlee. This project marks a special collaboration, as Lavelec Founder and Director, Dale Laverick, is a former student of Dene Academy.

The comprehensive project will involve a detailed survey of the existing lighting infrastructure, followed by a complete lighting design. The core of the work will be the upgrade of existing lights to LED systems, ensuring improved performance, reduced maintenance, significant energy savings, and lower operating costs for the academy.
