Hi all, this may be a long one but please read and share as I do think it’s important!
I just wanted to make a post to address an issue I’ve been seeing more frequently in recent months.
I’ve been called to an alarmingly high number of jobs where the homeowner has recently had work done and issues have very quickly arisen. It seems as though people claiming to be roofers have been providing quotes and completing work that they aren’t qualified to do - and as a result people are having to pay an additional charge to have these issues rectified.
I just want to bring awareness to this issue, not just as poor roofing jobs can often be difficult to resolve but also as this work can cause structural damage to the outside/inside of homes which can be extremely expensive to fix.
I understand that sometimes people opt for the cheapest quote they receive for work to be completed, however, myself and other experienced roofing contractors charge a rate which encompasses the cost of quality materials, labour necessary to properly complete the job, and years of experience. If you receive a quote that is significantly below something provided by an experienced contractor - it will usually signify a much lower, sometimes detrimental, quality of the work that you will receive.
I really recommend checking the years of experience, ease of contact and evidence (usually in pictures) of past work a roofer has completed. If any of this information is difficult to find - you should question the reliability of the roofer.
Please do get in touch if you have been affected by such issues, and I hope this can help people looking to have work done so that no one ends up with unsatisfactory work or having to pay twice for a roof.
