With access being tight at this local job, our set up using the digger was the best possible way of completing this site. Not to mention the added bonus of saving our backs from aching! The customer first requested the stumps to be left around 3-4 ft high, then decided to have them all removed afterwards.

Two metre reduction of these beech trees growing together

This work was carried out last week in line with council approval, allowing for a balanced, all-round reduction to keep the trees in a manageable and healthy condition going forward.

Ongoing assessments will be carried out by Barnes Associates Ltd to ensure the trees remain safe within this high-risk area—particularly as one of the trees is affected by Ganoderma.

New year, new chipper.

Around a month ago, we had the opportunity to demo this machine for a couple of hours—and it seriously impressed us. It quickly became clear that this was the next logical step forward for the company.

With full remote control and the ability to operate directly from the digger cab, this chipper is a major upgrade in both safety and efficiency. There’s no need for anyone to manually lift material into the hopper, and we no longer require a second person working near the chipper. This allows us to stay focused on the task at hand while significantly reducing on-site risk. That said, the machine is fully compliant and can still be safely fed manually when required.

Weighing 2.7 tonnes, the chipper can be legally and safely moved from site to site with ease—just like our other machines of a similar weight.

We’re expecting delivery within the next 4–10 weeks and will be running it alongside our Forst TR8. This setup will help us continue meeting our clients’ expectations while completing our larger worksites safer, easier, and faster.

We’ll also be offering this chipper for hire to other local companies, available alongside our Bobcat E27, with an operator provided for both.

The chipper is fitted with a screen, meaning we’ll soon be able to produce and sell G50 chip.

Merry Christmas everyone from the TCTS team,

The time has come again to put down the tools for a short while and enjoy the slower pace. Thank you to all our staff for another great year, our suppliers for keeping us running when we’ve been busier than ever and finally our clients for some fantastic jobs and some lovely cups of teas, coffees and cakes! We look forward to helping you with all your tree work needs in the new year and we’re excited to see what the year brings.

We’ve been doing some canopy raising using our DeWalt pole saw and it’s been a huge time saver for those hard-to-reach jobs. Recently, we’ve had the opportunity to work with DeWalt, who generously provided us with some tools to test. The results have been genuinely impressive.

In fact, we’ve completely retired our Husqvarna pole saw—DeWalt’s has taken its place. We used to prefer the Stihl pole saw over the Husqvarna, but based on our experience so far, we think the larger DeWalt model (which we haven’t got yet, but am very impressed with the output of this smaller model so far!) could easily match or even outperform the Stihl.

At this particular job, we also cleared out dead trees and elderberries from the woodland, creating space to extend the rhododendron and camellia garden.
