Following an intensive 6 month journey, Tesco’s new site in Watford on St Albans Road opened its doors to the local community last week.

Our works consisted of;
Full internal demolition
Kingspan roof replacement
Gravity drainage installation
Car park strengthening and resurfacing
MF ceiling and partitioning
New floor coverings throughout
Full decorations internally and externally
Install of internal fixtures and fittings

A great effort from all involved to achieve this

Another successful project completed by the Total Design team! 👷‍♂️🔨

We recently carried out extensive flooring works at the One Stop Stores Ltd on Garden Lane in Chester.

The existing floor structure had deteriorated over time, with rotten joists causing the floor to sag in several areas. To resolve the issue properly, we cleared the store and lifted the entire wooden floor throughout both the shop floor and back-of-house areas.

Our team then:
• Replaced the damaged joists
• Installed a brand-new structural wooden floor
• Carefully removed internal walls during the process and rebuilt them once the new floor was in place
• Laid new tile flooring throughout the store
• Replaced ceiling tiles
• Installed additional perimeter whiteboarding

The result is a fully restored, structurally sound space ready for day-to-day operations again.

Thank you to our colleagues at RBPS for their hard work as well as AC Electrical for getting this over the line.

Exciting News - Tesco Express Watford Coming Soon April 2026
We are now into week 17 of 21 of a brand-new development for Tesco in Watford.
So far TDS have completed a full strip out of a restaurant including all non-structural internal elements - furniture, fixtures, kitchen equipment, flooring, ceilings

We have undertaken a full Kingspan roof replacement and 2 x elevations of slate tiles
New steelwork has been installed and floor levels raised, concreted and screeded
The MF ceiling system and party wall has now been completed to form the Tesco demise and sublet unit.
The car park strengthening and resurfacing works are ongoing and we are now into the internal shopfitting elements

Our strong start to 2026 continues with another successful Tesco Express opening this time in Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot.

Delivered over four weeks from 5 January to 2 February, the project was completed on time and handed over to a satisfied client.

Works included a remodel of the existing store, with new rooftop plant installed by street lift, upgraded chillers, new shelving, and a full internal & shopfront redecoration. We also tackled and resolved existing drainage issues to ensure the store is ready for long-term operation.

We are pleased to present the newly fitted Coop Travel in Litchfield. Their existing store had to be vacated and move into new premises in the same shopping centre.
For this new store we renovated both ground and first floors, including the flooring, decorating, heating, AC, and relining of the walls. We also installed the new Bureau de Change & bespoke central hub to greet customers as they walk in.

Decoration was carried out by J T PAINTING & DECORATING LIMITED
Signage supplied and fitted by Key2 Group (UK)

We're pleased to present this new Tesco Express store in West Kilburn, Harrow Rd, London. This 7 week project started on 6th Oct and opened its doors on the 24th November.

The existing site had to have some demolition completed, as well as repairing some leaky roofs!

Once we completed this we were able to complete our other works, including;

· Decorations to entire shopfront and throughout
· New Concertina Shutters
· New chillers
· New staff kitchen
· New floor throughout
· New shelving
· New resin entrance externally and internal matwell

🚀 Project Complete: New Tesco Store – Napier Road, Gillingham

Proud to share that Total Design Shopfitting has successfully completed the fit-out of the brand-new Tesco store at Napier Road in Gillingham.

What started as an empty shell just 4 weeks ago is now a fully operational store opening its doors on December 5th.

Our team delivered a full turnkey solution, including:

🔹 Constructing all internal walls
🔹 Hanging doors and completing all joinery
🔹 Installing the kitchen, staff toilet, and manager’s office
🔹 Site management of all additional trades including electrical, refrigeration, shelving installations, and counters

A huge thankyou to our dedicated team, our sister company TDS Electrical Contractors (Total Design Group) and all trusted contractors for working with precision, speed, and professionalism throughout. Another great project delivered on time and to a high standard.

In this year’s Advent season, Nigel the Total Design Elf has been out helping Senior Contracts Manager Jason Greenwood on our latest fit-out at Channel Islands COOP – Longstore, Guernsey.
He even became a hit with the airport and flight crew — bagging a cockpit visit and sharing a few round the world-flight tips with the Pilots courtesy of his old mate Santa Claus.
Look out for more adventures coming soon… and yes — Nigel is a GOOD elf.

On Monday this week we handed over this Tesco Express store in Kingsteignton. The floor had asbestos throughout, but thanks to our robust health & safety practices we managed to navigate it successfully, keeping ourselves and all others trades involved safe.

Works included the redecoration of the entire shopfront, including the apex, and internal decoration. New chillers were installed, and the staff kitchen & bakery area were all given a refresh. A new acoustic plant was installed - shout out to Space Engineering Services Ltd - and new entrance matwell was installed.

Tesco Express Woodley, Reading

12 week project complete ✅

We have now completed the refurbishment of an existing Tesco store in Woodley, Reading

The store was handed over to the retail team on Monday this week and today reopened its doors to the local community.

We are sure this is going to be a very busy store which visitors will enjoy
