🌬FIRST ASHP 🌬

Full disclosure. I was drafted in for the pipework on this one. I don’t have my air source qualification but after doing this I’m pretty sure they’re not too hard to grasp.

This was a Aerona3 with a Low Loss Header used as the volumiser. It has an immersion heater within it in case the pump fails same as the 250L unvented cylinder.

We all have our opinions on ASHPs but the fact is there’s work to had from it and it’s coming whether we agree with them or not so just adapt or die as they say 😅 my personal opinion on them is that they’re great in this scenario with an extremely well insulated building with full underfloor heating throughout but won’t be suited to every property in England they’re seemingly making out 🤷‍♂️

Anyways, I actually thoroughly enjoyed this for a change of work and will be doing more in future! Customer happy = me happy.

on the copper as peruk black clips of course
pump and
zone valves

What’s your thoughts on ASHPs!?⬇️📝

❤️‍🔥ATAG I32S with iSTEEL ❤️‍🔥

What an enjoyable week I had on this one despite the 500 degrees we were all grafting in!

The heat exchanger had split on the old Worcester heat only and the customer had also complained of red hot water from their tired thermal store.

After some too’ing and fro’ing me and the customer came to this as the best solution for them, they had 22Ls a min cold and and lovely little space in the corner of the garage to fit it all.

The system was absolutely full the brim with sludge so after the TS and boiler were removed we spent the rest of the first mains flushing the entire system to try and remove the bulk of the iron oxide.

Once I was happy with that, A new i32s, iSteel 210Ls cylinder, smart room thermostat, all pipework for the new components, including a new 22mm hot feed all the way to bathroom, additional 8L (black edition 😏) serviceable expansion vessel to help the system long term as it’s on the larger side and also put the customer a washing machine feed and waste in the garage and the outside tap to outside instead of in the garage.

Once the system was all filled and tested I wired it up (could be better in my opinion and will be improving on this in the next one) and then gave the system a full magnacleanse with some 800 cleaner to get the rest of what the mains flush missed, which wasn’t a great deal but was significant enough for it to be worth doing.

Tried something which was a first me on this job with painting the ply backboard black to make the copper pop as I’ve seen other lads like Todd and James do it and thought it was a great idea. Extra 10 minutes on the job and I had some spare black paint at home, why not eh 🤷‍♂️

Would love to create some more of these for my customers with a range of different backboards or colours, any constructive feedback is very welcome 🙏🏻☺️

🚿SHOWER PUMP🚿

This was a Positive Pressure 3 Bar shower pump I installed a few weeks back as part of a full eh suite refurb.

Tried to keep the path of least resistance with no fittings soldered until they to be. Enjoyed getting the old benders out for this one.

22mm full bore levers and line strainers as the ones supplied with these aren’t really up to much. And a S Tank Fl**ge for the correct connection on the hot water cylinder.

🏆 THE ECONOMISER 🏆

Was a quick turn around on this one and what a slog it turned out to be.

Attended this callout on Wednesday to no HTG or HW to discover this old
28si’s heat exchanger leaking (last photo) so it was time for a replacement, fitted it 2001 though so a very impressive life!

Went back Friday and fitted them a the outstanding Economiser 27iC Plus, Omega filter and smart thermostat, which is a very impressive bit of kit, easy to install and super user friendly.

Tidied up the pipework the best I could, anyone else hate crossover pipes?, was a proper sweatbox in that cupboard 😂 but we got there. Customer now has an, unparalleled in industry, 14 YEARS piece of mind warranty.

Looking forward to more of these in the coming months.

🍞SIMPLE, DONE RIGHT 🍞

Enjoyed this one more than I ever thought I would. There’s something really nice about leaving a job better than when you arrived.

My customer contacted me as her tap and waste pipes were all leaking and wanted renewing after various bodge jobs.

I could of easily just whacked new tap and trap in and got straight back in the van before the hour was out and no one would of been done any wiser, but that ain’t how we do.

Removed the cupboard backing. Secured the plastic properly and brought copper into the cupboard. New waste hole fitted with a super sexy . Full new waste kit, trap and rodding access as its now solvent weld.

An addition of an outside tap with a butterfly valve so the customers can easily isolate it when they go away or in winter etc. Lovely new hose down tap, little bit sleaker than the big daft things you see about.

All in all I’m very pleased with how it turned out, I even managed to secure the backing of the cupboard back and fill some of the previously butchered holes.

✴️ THE BEAST ✴️

Was great to get this job all wired up, finished and commissioned last week.

This was a full central heating we did along with a single zone UFH which I’ve never used before, was quite impressed, nice little unit and dead straight forward to wire up.

The customer had a whopping 20L a minute cold but didn’t want an unvented cylinder so we opted for the extremely good value for money Potterton Titanium 40kw.

Full new 28mm gas run on the old munsens all the way to the boiler as a big range was tee’d off this too, sting 19mb max WP on test and lovely HW!

We also renewed all the heating pipework throughout and modern radiators with a smart thermostat.

Dead happy with the end result as is my customer! Look forward to servicing her next year and see how it’s getting on!

Big man Ben Rhodes on the boiler for this one 💪🏻

1️⃣ FIRST ATAG 1️⃣

So, this was a callout I originally attended to no hot water. The issue was the flow switch (last pic) which is a relatively simple diagnosis and fix. But upon inspection I then found a multitude of sins with the boiler. The case seals had gone, leaking heat exchanger and most importantly, THAT FLUE. when the bedroom window was open the gases came straight in. Been like that for 12 years!

So, it was decided it was time for a shiny new i36 with a lovely 12yrs warranty. First of many for me I think, certainly is my top end boiler I will be selling.

The boiler is a proper bit of kit, the jig lined up perfectly, no pi***ng about loosening anything off etc (we’ve all been there, DuoTec cough cough) slightly concerned about the rear expansion but hey ho, all in all impressed.

Tidied up the pipework within the cupboard, I’d of liked to of removed all the plastic elbows on show but it just wasn’t feasible within the time frame priced for. Flue shortened, plume kit on to get away from the internal corner, larger condense to outside, new system filter and shock arrestor to protect the system and a CP4.

🪄PIPEWORK🪄

Few pictures from today’s job, the benders had a nice little run out on this mini spaghetti junction.

Ideal C40 going in to feed this office floors rads and a staff room kitchen area. Really enjoyed this one.

Finish up tomorrow with the flush and wiring ✅

Bit of craic to end the week 🚰
