We often get asked questions about our custom visors such as…..
Can you see it from the inside?
The short answer is yes (anyone who sells something similar saying you can’t is telling porkies). However , when it’s really close to you eyes in use, your focal distance down the track makes it much less noticeable. The better driver you are, the further forward you will be looking and the less noticeable the logo will be. In the same way in the rain, your focal length looks past the drops on the visor, this is the same principle. Several users say after using them for 5 minutes. The brain just tunes it out.
Does it create glare?
In our opinion no. Iridium visors are just a coating on top on an already tinted plastic visor. This process removes the iridium only and the tinted plastic underneath remains. Yes there’s a tonal difference but it should still act as an effective sun shield.
Are they legal?
The blue book states that the view through the visor can’t be obstructed. In our opinion, from the inside, there is no obstruction, just a tone difference. From the outside however it looks like a sticker which would obstruct the view. We have had instances where a scrutineer has rejected their use one weekend and changed their mind the next. It’s up to the user the argue the toss but ultimately it’s wise to carry a spare unmodified visor if the scrutineer won’t budge.
Can you put a logo on a used visor?
No not really. Any imperfection in the iridium surface adversely affects the process. We only modify new visors as a result.
