Spray painting kitchen cabinets and replacing handles | Edinburgh, East Craigs, EH12 | March 2023

Our client wants advice selecting out a colour for their kitchen cabinets. They are thinking about a light grey shade. We suggest that for a classy touch, you use Farrow and Ball's No. 274 Ammonite with a 20% sheen Egshell finish.

Our expert, Jack, also says that changing the handles at the same time would make a nice difference. This works especially well since the old handles were silver.

Project of the bespoke MDF TV Unit, the chosen paint is Farrow & Ball - Cooking Green Apple No. 32 with a 10% sheen level in Matt. The project took place in Calderwood, EH53.

The spray-painting process involved applying two coats of 2K primer followed by two coats of the topcoat paint. Ensuring a meticulous attention to detail while filling all connection lines and screw holes was particularly important in this job.

For a smooth finish, we used a 320 grit sanding paper after priming and a 500 grit sanding paper between each application of the topcoat paint.

Spray painting or hand painting?

Painting with a spray gun instead of hand painting using a brush or roller is much faster, meaning you get the job done much quicker. Using a gravity gun, you can be sure you will end up with as smooth a finish as possible by releasing a very fine mist of paint.
