We’re delighted to add a new MEWP (cherrypicker) to our expanding fleet. This machine was made to order for us since retiring our previous machine earlier this year, this one features a 23 metre boom with an improved outreach allowing us to access the highest and trickiest of roofs, even when parked vehicles are obstructing us. This machine vastly improves our responsiveness as it negates the need for scaffolding in many situations and allows us to attend to emergencies immediately and carry out general roof maintenance and repairs for our growing pool of clients.

We embark on another large scale tenement overhaul in central Edinburgh, which incorporates new slating, lead work, cast-iron rainwater goods and render work for a group of owners in this block who originally commissioned us to carry out a detailed survey to review and highlight the areas of concern which needed to be addressed. Scaffolding has recently been erected and signed off, our welfare is on site and the skips and loading bays are at the ready for the work to begin in earnest. If you own or occupy an apartment in a residential block in Edinburgh and you’re concerned about the condition of the roof or fabric of the building, give us a ring or drop us an email, it all starts with a conversation and our initial survey is absolutely free. A bit of a facelift on this tenement’s gable end in Bruntsfield. We were initially called out due to falling debris from the roof down to the ground below, which was in close proximity to a nursery so the urgency was very high. We erected our scaffolding and carried out a close inspection and ‘tap test’ on the stone and pointing where it was discovered the top half was eroding in various sections and the pointing required immediate attention. The owners commissioned us to carry out sporadic stone repairs, repoint the entire top half and install new copes to the wall-heads. The contrast from top to bottom demonstrates how much of an aesthetic impact some pointing and stone repair work has on a building. The owners are keen to engage us to carry out the same work to the bottom half next year to complete things which will really finish this gable off.

Our latest small commercial project in Inverleith is progressing well and is almost complete. This period property was in a tired state and in need of some serious TLC when we took on the project at the start of the year. The new roofs are having a significant impact on the overall optics of the property and will give the owners and eventual occupants peace of mind over the long term.

Our most recent commercial project at Bog Road, Penicuik is now wrapped up. This incorporated 2 of our core services, cladding and BUR High Performance Traditional Flat Roofing, including rigid insulation in the system. Our clients Findlay Irvine now have a brand new roof as well as a much improved thermal envelope to work within which upgrades their EPC Rating, which is becoming an increasingly valuable factor in both commercial and residential buildings. Our Frederick Street project draws to a close and we are delighted with the finishes on this one. This project was logistically challenging in terms of access due to having to get ‘up and over’ with slate and general materials as a result of the site being ‘landlocked’. The roof is finished with the premium CUPA H3 slate, and our slaters have paid particular attention to detail with their various cuts, most notably the finishes on the leading corners with a 45 degree cut which adds a quality aesthetic touch to the roof.

As we wrap up another hectic year we would just like to thank all of our clients, past & present, for putting their trust in us and appointing us as their contractor of choice.

We have now shut down until the new year but we will have a limited number of staff on standby for any emergencies and urgent enquiries throughout the holiday period.
