A series of courtyards, lightwells, and terraces establish a careful balance of daylight and privacy at Canon Mews.

Responding to the geometry of a constrained brownfield site, light is carved from within to shape a calming urban sanctuary.

At Canon Mews, we worked with local artist .rahimian to create a series of bespoke works.

Drawing directly from the spaces and materials found on site, Arran’s works are immediately contextual. As part of his process, a 4m x 3m canvas was placed on site for 6 weeks, with each mark a reflection of the construction. An approach rooted in craft, context and material honesty; values we hold close within our own practice.

It has been a real joy to work with Arran and witness these pieces taking shape alongside the architecture.

All works are now available for purchase.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the launch of our debut development - Canon Mews.

These homes embody our strong belief that “new-build” shouldn’t mean a compromise on quality or character.

Craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and enduring details were at the heart of our shared vision with — and it was incredibly rewarding to see that vision resonate so strongly with guests from across the design, construction and property sectors.

We were especially proud to see this sentiment reflected in a lovely review by .scotsman:

“There used to be two choices when house hunting in
Edinburgh.

You could go for the period property, which has a bit of character, or the blank canvas new-build that’s well insulated but seemed to have undergone a personality transplant.

Now, there’s a third option, courtesy of Canon Mews.”

The properties are now available to purchase via our selling agent .

Working with historic and listed buildings is deeply ingrained in our practice, so it was particularly rewarding to see Whitberry recognised in the Listed & Modern Awards 2025.

Also a very lovely surprise to see the project featured on the cover of as part of their coverage.

Whitberry has been shortlisted for an .edinburgh award.

The project involved the renovation of a beautiful, Grade B listed farmhouse in East Lothian, and is complemented by a contemporary extension that unifies a patchwork of historic outbuildings to the rear.

Good luck to all shortlisted practices at tonight’s event!

The full story behind Catalog House is featured in the latest edition of .

Created in close collaboration with our friends , the project offered a unique opportunity to combine two apartments into a cohesive home, shaped by warm, tactile materials and a holistic approach to both architecture and interiors.

A lovely moment to reflect on a deeply rewarding design process.

Catalog House reimagines two former flats into a cohesive family home in Trinity.

A gently curved extension creates connection to the west facing garden, while internal spaces were completely reimagined to provide clarity and flow.

It was a joy to work with our long time friends and collaborators on their own home, with an intuitive design process enriched by their own creativity and taste.

Drawing inspiration from Tadao Ando’s Row House in Osaka, Canon Mews uses a series of courtyards and terraces to pull natural light deep in to the homes.

The carefully positioned courtyards mediate seamlessly between inside and outside, while providing an optimal balance of light and privacy.

At Whitberry, a fluted stone facade consolidates a patchwork of historic additions.

We had some fun casting a mock up for the open exhibition and it’s lovely to see the finished article in place.

The warm, reddish-pink tones are inspired by the local East Lothian sandstone, while the vertical rhythm echoes the clay pantile roof beyond.
