🌞 Is anyone thinking of turning off their heating now that the weather's warming up?

Well, today's top tip is... Don't!

Turning your heating system off completely can cause damage to the system and make it harder to start up again when you do need some heating - especially if you have older radiators.

Instead, turn your thermostat down to 10°C - 15°C or use your timer to set the heating to come on for just a short period each day.

This can prevent blockages from air or debris and will ensure your heating system is circulating regularly.

Well, we never said this was a glamorous job... 🤣

We see more dirty cold water tanks than you could imagine (honestly, it's a problem in Edinburgh) - as we carry out legionella risk assessments and all types of required remedial work.

This usually includes cleaning and disinfecting the cold water storage tanks - although they're generally slightly more accessible than this one!

But, even hanging tanks concealed above the bathroom, with little to no access, get the full treatment.

Once we've practised those contortion skills, anyway... 😅

🔥 Knowing what to do in a gas emergency could be the difference in losing or saving your property – or even your life.

Yes, this might sound melodramatic, but you know it’s true.

Gas safety in the home is incredibly important. Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, and explosions.

A dedicated Gas Safety Week is held every September in the UK, raising awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances, but of course, gas safety is something we need to consider all year round.

So, we created a tenant guide as part of our series with Citylets, covering just what exactly constitutes a gas emergency, what to do in a gas emergency, and the simple steps you can take to prevent a gas emergency from occurring.

We thought we'd start the day by sharing Kim and Duncan's smiley faces - together, they're our operations coordinators.

Kim and Duncan are your first point of contact with us, and they have a huge impact behind the scenes - on both the smooth running of our day-to-day business and on our clients' experience with us.
