Project completion in Craigcrook. We finished this a year ago but have been waiting for the garden to grow in before getting photos (by Gillian at Dapple).
The house is a former manse designed in 1901 by George Washington Brown. Unusally for Edinburgh it was designed in the Queen Anne style and sits proudly in two acres of garden on the edge of the Ravelston golf course.
Zone carried out a comprehensive refurb and repair of the C-listed house and added contemporary living space projecting out into a newly landscaped garden.
The extension is designed to sit quietly at the rear of the house, its materials deliberately contrasting with the original building, whilst the timber picks up the colour of the red sandstone.
The flat roof is utilised for a sundeck with hot tub providing the perfect vantage point to see the new garden laid out below.
