Good design can create so much space without extending your home!

Before and after plans of my internal alterations to a Listed Building in Portobello.

The long thin kitchen diner was divided to create a play room/guest bedroom to the front, a quiet office/ music room to the rear and a utility room with lots of storage and external door.

A sociable kitchen diner was created in the existing dining room, in the heart of the home.

Fabulous family kitchen dining room created in a Listed Building in Portobello.

We decided at the Concept Design stage to work with the proportions and features of the existing room rather than enlarge it; saving the cost and disruption of knocking down a wall.

The recycled scaffolding plank dining table is positioned by the window, which has a window seat for a few kids or an adult.

There is just one run of base units with display shelves over and one block of tall units. The existing press is stacked with interesting old plates and extra shelves for recipe books. The abundance of plants and art bring life to the space and create a happy atmosphere.

Lovely to visit my client's sunny garden this morning and look around their amazing alterations. Hard to remember this was an entirely monoblocked driveway. More photos soon, as I'm off to enjoy the sunshine 🌞

Thank you to all the contractors still working hard to get their projects finished off before Christmas.

Carpets fitted yesterday. Chewed mouse wire repair today. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ❄️

With Christmas just around the corner, ArchiLife are taking a well earned rest. What a wonderful 2023 it's been! Thanks to all my clients, consultants and contractors. Merry Christmas everyone.

Looking forward to starting some exciting new projects, and finishing others in 2024. Back on the 9th of January.

Soggy survey and scribbling on the train.

Another conservatory conversion for ArchiLife. To create a sociable kitchen/dining/family room, with bifolds opening out onto that wonderful garden and view.
