A very good spot by the electrician's rewiring an Edinburgh property.

The rope wrap is Chrysotile asbestos and was pulled out of some fixed metal conduit. Its not something I've seen a lot of and unlikely to be picked up as part of an asbestos survey.

Good to know contractors are becoming more aware, stopping work and checking out materials that are suspected of containing asbestos.

It's been a very busy few months at Forth Asbestos so not much time for Facebook, twitter etc.

A lot of clients refurbishing their homes and businesses across Scotland.

Apart from being a legal requirement, a good asbestos survey will help ensure that no one is unnecessarily put at risk.

Below are a few example photos from recent surveys. Asbestos not in great condition in most of them. Who knows how many people have been put at risk?

Having surveyed several properties in the last few weeks where asbestos has just been an afterthought, more events like this are needed to help raise awareness across the country.

Pretty sure this is a totally different site to the one I recently posted. Just goes to show that the Cowboys are out there operating.
Removing asbestos or need a survey, ask for company information and copies of Insurance certificates before parting with your cash. We need to do more to stop this type of thing happening.

Amazing that this sort of thing is still happening. Just looking at the sheets they have been recently removed, nice clean edges, so the material hasn't been stockpiled somewhere and just dumped when they ran out of space.
Another case of rogue contractor strikes again, I'd be worried what sort of state they left the building in that these sheets came from.

About 50 corrugated asbestos sheets have been found spilling into a d**e in Old Leake, sparking an appeal for information by the council.

Just looking at the photo's it looks like the buildings may have asbestos cement roofs. Believe it or not the asbestos has probably help slow down the progress of this fire.

For all you wine drinkers out there, might be time to change countries or find something else to drink.
Beer drinkers don't laugh apparently it is used in beer filters as well.

Do you like wine? You might have been drinking asbestos all along. Asbestos in wine come from filtering wine through asbestos, still a common method.

Another interesting use for asbestos, health risks of inhaling asbestos fibres has been known for well over 100 years yet some bright spark thought it was a good idea to add asbestos to the filter which, yes you guessed it, you have to breathe through. Oh and because the filter restricts airflow, you have to inhale harder to maintain your breathing and therefor potentially inhale more asbestos. Madness!
