That’s Canon CT pod number 4 landed in its new home at St Mary’s Hospital Isle of Wight.

Weather was against us for our original crossing, but an amazing effort from all involved, saw the pod loaded onto the barge and across the Solent.

Huge thanks to Our site team William and Andy, Alan and Mike at trans2, Conrad and the team at island cranes, Rob Kingswell and team. Youngs site services.

An amazing team effort yet again!

Canon CT pod number three now on the ground! Another long day, big thanks to the team, Andy, William and Ross, Trans2, Ainscough and the team at HS2 for opening their site to allow our transport and crane through.

Rapid ramp, and Armco barrier to install in the coming couple of days, then on to the Isle of White for pod number 4.

Well that’s another delighted client, and even happier end user, canon CT pod number 2 delivered and completed with skirts and ramp to Swindon. Onto pod number 3 this week heading for Amersham.

Following on from this earlier post, and a long and sometimes very stressful day yesterday Modus and I are very please to have our first CT Pod on the ground at Yeovil hospital, big thanks to Ross Tranter, Ross Fisher, Brin & co @ Young’s Site Services, Trans2, Kitkat and the team @ Ainscough!!

Exciting times ahead with the delivery of the rest of the units planned throughout September all over the UK!!

What can I say.......at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic everything ground to a complete halt, furloughed employees and the worry of an uncertain future.

A week or so into lockdown we were busy figuring out how we could adapt, our partnership with Modus Building Services, really has seen us through.

After bringing guys back off furlough we have just completed 6 modular relocatable CTs for Canon and NHS England (pics to follow after official launch)

12/14 hour days, 7 days a week for the past 7 weeks, been a tough ask for the team being away from home for 6+ weeks but the result has been amazing and can’t wait to share the pics with everyone.

A big thanks to the following as without there assistance, dedication, effort and support this would not have been possible;

Firstly to Duncan, Kevin and Steven of Modus, for the opportunity to carry out such a prestigious project.

My team at ND Barrett, in no particular order Ross, William, Andy, Keith, Scott, Chris, Jason, Colin, Sam, Craig, Gary, Paul, Dougy, Gordon, Allan, Kevin, Ross. Huge thanks to you all, it was tough but we got there!! Always do!

To Antonia, William and Andrew at Westfield CountryPark, thanks so much!! With everywhere in lockdown accomodation local to the factory in Hull was impossible to find, you opened for us being ‘key workers’ and accommodated not only us but our sub contractors and canon engineers. Highly recommend Westfield for a secluded break and 5star accomodation!

Last but not least Gareth, Christine, Wendy, Brian, Shaun and the team at Paragon Space Hull, for building the shelled units and allowing us to ‘take over’ their yard for the last couple of months! A small dedicated team that really can compete with the big boys in modular building construction.

Now on to projects in Cardiff, Swansea, Nuneaton and Edinburgh and hopefully more modular builds in the future.

It’s been a really busy week here, trip down to Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital to assist Carestream in getting their room over the line for delivery of their Xray kit on Tuesday, main contractor let them down, in less than 4 days we had their control panel built, delivered and installed for their arrival Tuesday, then over to Hull to visit a factory we will be working in over the next couple of months building Modular CT pods for Canon and NHS England’s fight against Covid-19, really good visit and a great project to be involved in, also lovely local accomodation we found for all our guys and subcontractors. Also busy organising our return to the UHW Cardiff to finish of MRIs 1&2 and crack on with MRI 3 and surrounding areas, tricky planning for all these projects making sure we keep everyone safe.

During these very uncertain times it’s nice to get an essential job over the line. This is at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, due to ongoing external works there was no room for a mobile CT trailer to take up the slack while we replace the hospitals current CT scanners, so with Canon and Modus a solution was put forward to turn a current Xray room into a temp room which has turned out great for all. Additional Lead lining to walls and ceiling, concrete plinth for new scanner, forming new control room, new lead door sets, lighting and power, what a transformation.

It’s been a very busy period for us recently, with projects in Edinburgh Royal, Monklands Hospital, Ninewells Hospital Dundee, Royal Cornwal Hospital Truro, and this one at University of Wales Hospital Cardiff, where we are reaching a critical stage in the installation of 3 GE MRI scanners. Delivery of the 3T scanner yesterday and the 1.5T today. From an empty shelled space we have done everything from floor screeds to decoration. A further couple of weeks will see us close these rooms up and hand back to GE to do their installation, then on to the final 1.5T magnet installation. Really enjoyed the challenges of this project and as always Modus and my team have done an amazing job! Well done Jason, and the site team.

Onwards and upwards, watch this space !!! 😉
